My family is originally from Syracuse and we now live in Columbus, Oh , but return to Syracuse every summer. Part of our plans always include a trip to Skaneateles. For the past 5 years, I have stopped by SkaneatelesJewelers just to look and dream. 5 years ago my husband went in the store with me and we picked an anniversary ring to celebrate our 30th. This summer, he asked if I wanted to go “ look” in the jewelry store.Kim remembered me from the previous summer. She remembered we had another milestone anniversary and even recalled some of the solitaire rings I had tried on .My husband said “ pick anything you want” and Kim patiently let me try on several rings, settings, and added loose stones until I found “ the one”. Being newly engaged, this was my first experience working with jewelers and I had zero idea what to expect, let alone know anything about the process. It was a Wednesday in May that made a trip to Skaneateles very inviting, but a town wide blackout hit about an hour before. A truck on Route 20 took out power pole. But as most businesses were closed, a knock on Skaneateles Jewelry door was answered. Meg cheerfully answered and let us in. We have traveled from Binghamton, New York as Seiko watches needed repair. Skaneateles Jewelry was one of the closest. We dropped off the watch and it required repair elsewhere, which they called about the next day. The staff were polite and kept me informed.
