We love the lobster roll, and the fries are quite good. They can be busy and don't take reservations for parties of less than six. But, they will take your cell phone number when you arrive and text you when your table's ready. This allows you time to visit some of the nearby boutiques, or explore the pier and lakeside park. With all the windows in their dining rooms, it can get pretty warm and stuffy on a sunny day. If available, I recommend a table on the outside patio. The service is excellent. UPDATE-1: We returned on a Thursday for lunch and, although it was the peak of the tourist season, we were seated at one of the 7 tables on the outdoor patio within 5 minutes. I very much enjoyed the shrimp po' boy tacos with the optional addition of taco chips and pico de gallo. The remoulade sauce on the fried shrimp was an excellent pairing, and the tomato salsa with the chips had a pronounced cilantro aroma and tasted as if it had just been prepared. UPDATE-2: Had the Pub Chicken Curry for dinner. Overall, it was nice dish, although if I ordered it again, I would ask if the chef could kick up the heat a bit since it was quite mild. Also, the onions were overcooked and had a mushy consistency. The chicken was tender and moist without detectable fat or grizzle. The meal was filling and the service was excellent. UPDATE-3: Having traveled throughout the Caribbean, I've ordered coconut shrimp at a fair number of restaurants. Hence, you can imagine my surprise to find that one of the best preparations of this Caribbean favorite is available right here in Skaneateles at the Blue Water Grill. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the coating was crunchy with lots of toasted coconut. In addition, the accompanying sweet chili dipping sauce was excellent. I highly recommend you try this appetizer on your next visit to the restaurant. My wife also very much enjoyed her appetizer of curried mussels. She took some of it home to pour over angel hair pasta as a second meal. She offered me a taste and, as I've noted previously with the pub curry chicken, I found the curry sauce too bland. Unfortunately, the other item I tried for the first time on this visit, the hazelnut cake with vanilla ice cream, was something I wouldn't order again. UPDATE-4: Tried the triple-berry tart prepared by the nearby Patisserie Bakery. It was served warm with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. An...
Read moreA disappointment in a village with SO many better alternatives! Full disclosure: my super-power is picking the worst thing on the menu. In this case it was the Cesar Salad ($12) with grilled chicken(+$6). Yes, $18 for a salad where they opened a bag and cut up (or was it pre cut?) romaine lettuce, opened a bag and poured on pre-made croutons, grated on too little parmesan, and opened a bottle and poured a blob of dressing on the top. The chicken was a bit tough, and over-cooked. The breast was cut into five or six ragged chunks that were too big and needed to be cut further. Unfortunately, they placed this direct-from-the-grocery-store fiasco into an undersized “hair-cut” bowl (no rim). They tried, but my undersized salad did not grow to acceptability by use of a small container. What it did do is make the whole unmixed joke of salad very difficult and awkward to mix and eat.
To Bluewater Grill: Dressing: MAKE YOUR OWN! it is easy, cheaper and much better. Croutons: MAKE YOUR OWN! it is easy, cheaper and much better. Parmesan: This is mixed in and added for flavor not dumped on top in meager amounts for faux appearance. Stop adding too little and pinching pennies. Chicken: Correctly grill it, slice it and fan it over the salad. The Salad overall: It should have been served already mixed with the correct proportions of romaine, parmesan, croutons and dressing. It should also have been at least 30% larger, presented in a decent sized bowl with a wide edge, or on a plate, with the chicken fanned over it. A salad made correctly could possibly approach $18. What you served me wasn't worth $4.99 in a carry out plastic tub on it's best day.
The other guests said their meals were ok, but nothing special at all. Two at our table who ordered "Bang Bang Shrimp" had also ordered it at E&D a couple of days before. They said it was excellent there; not so here.
The wait staff was attentive, prompt and cheerful. Well done!
Bluewater! Fix your food! You are cheating good wait staff out of tips with overpriced mediocre (at...
Read moreIf I could leave 0 stars I would… my mother and I visited for Mother’s Day 2025, 11 days ago. We both have allergies. She is gluten free and I am dairy free. We pick this restaurant because their website showed a full menu hosting gf and df options. When we arrived the menu items were the same, but the physical menu only noted gf items, which is fine but as we inquired more we learned all items makes df on their online menu actually contained diary.
Furthermore the gf items labeled on their physical menu were all fried in the same fryer and gluten contain items, some dishes marked gf were not gluten free unless they completely removed items with no replacement, even expecting to charge $3 for a gf bun to replace the expected bread item. Normally if someone is listed gf they have replacement for the non gf items.
Wait staff was short with us and very uniformed. The manager tried to blame us saying we must have found a menu someone else posted about their location and gave attitude when we said it’s on your website. She then told us that many gf people still eat the wings because they don’t care about cross contamination, but that’s not really gluten free if there is obvious contamination. They did not offer to make any changes to make the items DF or gf. Eventually we decided there was nothing safe here to eat.
I waited to make this review because the manager promised she would have the website updated, it has been 11 days, no updates were made. Dairy allergies are life threatening. This is dangerous to have such obvious miss-information. Had I not asked more questions and only trusted their online menu I could have died and my mother could have wound up in the hospital thinking she was having a heart attack. This would have ruined our Mother’s Day.
It is illegal for them to have items listed as GF or DF without having dedicated equipment and certifications. They can say “contains no gluten ingredients” or “gluten friendly” but not...
