Background from before going to Strike More: originally had two primary bowling balls and a spare shot ball drilled to fit me by one PSO. Did fairly well, but always had weak entry into the pocket. After talking with a couple guys in league, they asked a few questions and realized I was hanging up on the ball way more than I should be, so the ball wasn't leaving my hand cleanly often enough. Was one of those things I didn't quite notice originally, but once pointed out it made sense what was going on. They told me to go see Anthony who runs Strike More Pro Shop.
Working with Anthony, he watched how I was throwing and releasing the ball, and re-measured my span. He does this multiple times to make sure he has it right. We moved the thumb hole over quite a bit on one ball and I noticed a difference immediately. I could clear my thumb so much easier with the repositioning of the thumb. He only did the one ball at first to make sure all was good. The next day after the first 3 games throwing that one in league I went back to get the other two redone. Got used to this new span, and bought two new bowling balls over the summer. He worked with me again, focusing on the ball roll with my original primary balls, and we worked a new layout for the two new ones, basing it on my axis point and the type of roll I was looking for. And he didn't just go with the same layout on both balls, they are quite different. I've noticed much better ball roll from these two new ones.
Anthony does a great job explaining what he sees in your game, and what you should expect the ball to do with how he drills it for you. Throughout working with him over the last 9 months he hasn't steered me wrong, and has...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbout a year ago I decided to take up bowling again. It's been 15 plus years since I picked up a bowling ball. At that time My average was 216 with 827 being my high series. I headed to Empire lanes and figured a little practice and I could at least be a 200 average bowler. Surprise surprise with the new technology ala synthetic lanes and stronger bowling balls, I was really struggling.
Time to visit the pro shop.
Told him my story and that I was a little frustrated. He watched me bowl and Rather than going into detail about what's involved in that process, Anthony gave me a lesson on synthetic lanes and the bowling balls that are out now. A new ball because my old ball would be illegal in a few months because of a weight hole. Some insight on how to play the lanes and I'm a happy camper again.
If you want to put the right ball in your hand for your style and lane conditions Anthony is the guy to see. You won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAnthony is a fantastic pro shop operator. I was in town from Collingwood, Ontario, Canada and wanted to check out some local pro shops. I knew I had some pitch issues with the grips in my balls and I was also looking at potentially picking up a new ball. He took a look at my set up and release and quickly identified that I needed more pitch on my ring finger and less on my middle. Got me on the lanes to identify my PAP and was gracious enough to give me some tips on release and ball motion on the house. Redrilled 2 of my balls and helped me choose the Storm Identity as a good ball to "fill the hole" in my existing arsenal for a high end ball with good length and back end reaction.
With the exchange rate I could have gotten the ball and drilling cheaper back home but with the amount of time and quality of service that I received I would gladly make the trip back and pay the exchange rates...
