I've been in twice now for things to make the backpacks I designed. I asked if they happen to sell zippers. The lady said "yes, we have zipper by the yard, but it's the kind you have to sew in" great, exactly what I was looking for. She asked how many zipper pulls and I told her. I paid for the zippers and the fabric I picked out. During the interaction, she was made sure to tell me multiple times that it was the kind you sew in, in a very condescending tone.
Second time I went in, I needed more zippers. I asked for 3 yards of each color with 10 zipper pulls for each color. She was so flustered and rude the entire interaction, telling me that it was too many pulls, and they were running low, while a guy pulled out the bags of pulls which were totally full of them. She was so angry that I was asking for the zipper stuff, saying that they usually reserve them for "the upholsterers". She clearly didn't want to sell me any, but instead of saying she couldn't sell them to me, she was condescending and rude and giving such horrible tone and attitude. She was also incredibly rude to the man who was also there working, yelling at him several times while I was there.
I offered to pay extra for the extra pulls, which I was happy to do. I would much rather support a local business than order online, but I'm guessing the attitude is because I'm not the type of person who normally walks into their store (alternative, piercings and tattoos I mean). I can't think of why else I was met with such hostility and condescension, while she gave a completely different (nice) attitude to the other customers in the store and...
Read moreI happened into this fabric store while accompanying a friend who was looking for upholstery fabric. While browsing I came upon an exquisite textile that I envisioned would look lovely as pillow shams and bed scarf for my own bedroom. The couple who own the store have been in the business for at least 50 years and are extraordinarily knowledgable about how to proceed with the project- as were then people that they have trained over the years. As a matter of fact all the people who assisted in the choices and recommendations were gracious and helpful in bringing about the final project. The issue of customer service is a two way street. Personalities interact in many ways as does caring, consideration and respect. My project was finished quickly and expertly and looks fabulous-- just as I envisioned. And it's amazing to be served by folks who truly know what they are doing- despite what might be quirky on any given day. A life long commitment to fabric and fabrications is much more than you would find in any chain store. A "Mom and Pop" operation carries its own charm and we're fortunate to have a little taste of that old world commitment here in Tucson. BTW, my friends upholstered bench was also completed expeditiously with...
Read moreWent for the first time after reading the reviews....This place has a huge selection of items to choose from so bring your tennis shoes because you will walk through room after room of products. I was cautious because of the negative comments but I found the people to be very pleasant. One of the owners is an older gentleman, he knows what he is talking about and very direct and to the point, to the point of telling instead of asking but he sits in a chair by the desk and puts in his comments.....its just manner and given his age its really okay. You just have to have a bit of understanding and respect for his long years. His wife is soo pleasant and everyone else was so willing to help....they were busy with other customers, but if you let them know that you are in need of help you get it, especially from the adults there. The younger people are helpful but the people who own and have been in the business kick it up in service and knowledge. Give it a try, keeping in mind that the older gentleman has been there a long time and deserves respect, If he tells you, you don't want that, and you really do no harm done =) He's a good guy once you start talking to him...and the rest well they are just so helpful and...
