Getting stabbed seems like a high price for a danish. This morning (2.19.2017), some guy was laying out on the sidewalk in the doorway, surrounded by cops and EMT's, apparently having just been stabbed. Normally, I'd just go somewhere else (wide berth!) but I was walking, and it was raining.. so I just soldiered forward, saying as I approached .."um, I just wanna a donut.?..". They let me through, but not until putting me through the smallest line- up ever.. "Hey, Scotty.. Is this the guy?", one of the cops yelled to the guy on the ground. 'Scotty' looked at me, squinting through his pain, gurgled a "No.", and the cops parted.. to let me in... to get my donut. Not great. Bad scene.
Also, the staff are unaccountably, extremly brusque and rude, and the food is fair- to- bad. The 'Ham and Cheese Crossoint' was a so- so crossoint.. filled with the lowest quality Buddig lunchmeat "ham", and "cheese slice", of the type served in various institutions. The rudeness of the staff was truly remarkable.
They do have a good coconut glazed, and all-in-all, it was better than being rained on. (slightly). Eat at...
Read moreI purchased a dozen mixed donuts. Since there were no old-fashioned (my husband's favorite), I chose the buttermilk, which has a similar taste. I also got a ham, cheese, and jalapeño croissant, which tasted great, but was mostly bread with not much of the ham mixture, unfortunately. My husband, however, disagreed as to the amount of ham. He said that there was a good amount, but it was all in one pile within the croissant. So, I stand corrected and am very happy that he enjoyed his croissant! Also, I heated the buttermilk donut slightly, and he really enjoyed that one, too! I've been trying various donut shops in a widening circle from the Garden District and found these to be good, not my favorite, but still good! I will mention that the price for the mixed dozen was $17.50, a very good competitive price for the shops I have visited so far this year. One of the gentlemen working told me of a man who visited from San Francisco, where the price for a dozen donuts is $35! I guess that's what inflation does, not to mention California prices. Thank goodness we live in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHands down the best donuts in Tucson. Got a dozen of these for my girlfriendās 35th birthday in march and Iāve thought about them every day since. They have all the classic donut options and flavors - glazed, crullers, cake, frosted, old fashioned, buttermilk (get this one!), long johns, twists. These are fresh made, hardy donuts - no limp or soggy or crumbly dry ones here!! If youāre bringing these anywhere youāre gonna wanna get a dozen or more.
These are donuts you can be proud bringing to your office birthday party or to your after church social hour or your book club or your school board meeting or to your job life guarding or to a gender neutral baby shower or to a sĆ©ance, even, if the ghost youāre calling is a donut lover.
My only con is that there is almost always a cop sitting outside and...
