The gentlemen in the truck were very friendly, accommodating, interacted pleasantly with the patrons, and had plenty of recommendations for first time visitors
Everything on the menu looked delicious, so it took some time deciding what to order. We chose the Chicken Rizo and the mixed shwarma pate. Also an order of falafel. We specifically requested no onions on any of the dishes because, while not being allergic, they often make my wife violently ill.
The falafel were beautifully cooked. The crunch on the outside was exceptional. The insides were soft. The flavor was nice, but a little bland when it comes to what I expect from falafel. They dilidnt come with a side salad, tahini sauce, or pita bread as stated on the menu.
I ordered the mixed shwarma plate. This one did come with rice and sauces, but again no pita. The chicken was the better of the two proteins on the plate. It was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. The beef was dry, stringy, seemed to be seasoned only with salt and pepper. And as before, after asking for no onions in anything, the salad on this dish was mo re onion than anything.
My wife got the chicken rizo. It was, by far, the most flavorful dish we ordered. It was good as is, but adding in the tahini sauce and toum on top made it exceptional.
Overall, the food was only 2/5, with the chicken rizo saving that score. Everything else tasted like it was made with unadventurous Caucasian palates in mind.
This truck is less than a mile down the street, and we'll be coming back at some point to give it...
Read moreI was so happy to see a new shawarma place in town, it’s hard to find good authentic middle eastern food in Tucson. I got the chicken shawarma plate with rice. The flavor of everything is delicious. Spices on the chicken as well as the rice are perfect. Homemade, large thin pita was great. The toum seemed fluffy and fresh and taste was perfect- strong garlic but not too sharp and a little sour/lemon for balance. So good. Portion was also very large, definitely a good value. Another reviewer mentioned chicken is dry, and sadly I agree which is why I gave the food itself 4 stars. I think maybe a little shorter cook time and the chicken would be perfect. Easy to fix a dryness issue, but fundamentally all the flavors and other elements are there to set up for a 5 star dish. At least the food isn’t too greasy, which has been a problem with other middle eastern restaurants I’ve tried. Service was super friendly, everyone was so nice! I will definitely go back. I hope they continue to succeed. If the owners read this, I would recommend correcting the dryness issue, but also adding the option to pay for a small side of hummus or another side of toum (I didn’t ask, but I also didn’t see it...
Read moreIm a regular in other shawarma spots in Tucson, but I noticed this one opened recently I decided to try it out. This place so far has the best shawarma sandwiches i’ve had in Tucson. I tried pretty much every item in the menu, and I’ll say the Chicken shawarma wrap and the Chicken Rizo are the safest choice if you happen to try this type of food for the first time! The fries are crispy and fresh, made me wish they had shawarma loaded fries cus of how good they are 🙏🏻 The wait time is a little long, but it’s something that should be obvious considering the fact that it’s a food truck and it gets pretty packed with people. I really recommend this place, please try it out! I wish nothing but the best for...
