I got robbed by the cashier while at this location when I was ordering. I used to order caramelos a lot from this location or the East side location. How I was robbed is when I ordered caramello's you have the option of the regular or large I always opted for large because I would share with my wife or my daughter. These large caramel those were the size of your head they were huge and back about 8 months ago or so they were like $11....
Anyway, now they are $14 and I understand inflation, minimum wage has gone up, etc.... but to my surprise when I opened my bag it was a regular size tortilla what used to be a small (that used to only cost $8. So, I called the restaurant was like hey they accidentally made a small instead of large two guys swap it out or maybe just get another small maybe too smalls equal a large.
What was really disappointing was the girl that helped me at the counter was super nice and whoever answered the phone wasn't nice but wasn't mean, there was just no empathy or I'm sorry any solution. We eat here a lot and a simple solution would have been now that you know you'll be ready next time but I'll meet you in the middle and we'll do a small caramelo on the house since you're such a loyal customer!!
Loyal Customer just got a bad news/surprise!!
I really wanted to leave this for anybody else that if thinking about getting a large caramelo here. Even though the portion is half the size it was about a year ago it's still delicious!! but it's so small that I would never order it again at that price.
I took a picture next to a small styrofoam plate so you can see how small it is. No way that's worth $14. I can buy those ingredients and take him home and make about 10 of these at that...
Read morethe reason I gave this place three stars is because they were not practicing social distancing they don't even have their floors marked for the line six feet apart most places have markings on the floor so we can make sure we're staying apart but here they didn't have that. so the people behind me kept creeping really close to me and the people in front of me kept stepping backward and I felt like we were just too cramped for a line. We went up and we ordered our food the guy was really friendly although the food did take a little bit longer than I thought it would because it wasn't very packed it was only a couple of people there. But we got our food and it was really good so no complaints about that. I did witness that they are not cleaning or sanitizing the tables in between customers the table we sat at was dirty it had food and crumbs and clearly had not been wiped down after the last customer's left. they do have hand sanitizer by the door but even the little receptacle looks dirty and grimy. I would have gave them more stars but they really need to work on their sanitary and social distancing this is very important especially if they want to stay open they have to contribute and do their part.the parking lot was a little cumbersome they have it like blocked off because I guess they have a drive-thru service now or a makeshift one at least but there was cones everywhere I wouldn't be comfortable parking my car there just how tight it is and you...
Read moreSome reviews are easier to write than others, and today's place falls on the difficult side of my postings. Primarily because Güero's is one of the city's most popular places. Yet, for me, it has always been just okay. I haven't visited in years, and yesterday I was in the area and in a hurry, so I decided to take another shot at it. So this is what I experienced. Same-old,same-old Güero Canelo! The only thing different was the extraordinarily high prices and the same old boring menu. One can throw a rock in any direction in this town and hit a taco/Sonora dog stand, truck, or cart and find it better tasting and affordable. My biggest beef with Canelo is the carne asada. Cooked on a flat iron, it is tough, filled with gristle and totally lacking any seasoning, thus flavor. No amount of salsa or lemon can rescue any taco or burrito from substandard meat. I know lots of you love this establishment, and really, it caterers to the U.A. crowd/ anglos, but for those of us who grew up here, you can do a lot better. It needs a make-over and lacks any desire to expand its menu. For my money, the truly satisfying and delicious tacos, with a huge variety of proteins, is Los Apson on 12th ave. Those are the taco kings of the Old Pueblo. Taco El Nene is also quite good. That's all I gotta say. Happy...
