It's a pity, they just lost me as a customer. I'm disabled. I travel with emergency medications that I need access to. I didn't make it two steps in before someone at the front pricing items asked me to leave my backpack at the front desk. "No, I have a lot of emergency medications in here." Oh, well, we do have a sign on the door. Okay then. Obviously you don't care about disabled people who need emergency medications. Then I won't be back into your business. So you have a problem with shoplifters. I'm a 50-year-old dude who's obviously there to spend money, not boost product. All you had to do was let me cross the room and go up to the MTG counter with my bag as other employees have done multiple times in the past.
For those of you who want to say it's a matter of shoplifting, I understand. But, imagine this. I'm walking into a store with $1,000+ worth of emergency medications that I need if I have a seizure or an incident while I'm shopping. First of all, how liable is the store if I have an incident and they've taken away my access to my medications?!? Second of all, you have a store employee that is not able to keep an eye out for shoplifters because he is too busy stocking shelves and pricing items. But, he's going to be able to keep an eye on my bag while he's doing the exact same tasks that make it impossible for him to look out for shoplifters? No. It's not reasonable and it's not realistic. You're asking me to leave my medications behind a desk 5 ft from the door where there's not even an employee the majority of the time because they're working on other tasks. No, I am unable to leave them in the car due to the heat.
So, it was obviously more important that they remove me as a possible shoplifter than it was to get my sale. I shouldn't have to sit there and argue my case to carry my backpack. I had already put it up on both arms so that I did not have easy access. I do that as a concession whenever I walk into a business so that they know I am not trying to use my backpack to shoplift. I had nobody else there with me that could put items in the backpack. The entire situation was idiotic and you lost my business.
**I went back in today and gave them another shot after the owner left a polite response to my review. I was halfway through the store before a young employee was about to stop me with my bag but the gentleman at the front counter stopped him and called the kid over. I could hear him explaining that "That's the guy..." (I have a fairly distinct beard) and instruct him to leave me be, if I'm not highly mistaken. I would like to think they have addressed their policy and that the young gentlemen would have allowed me on with my backpack had he not been stopped, but since it was prevented I have no idea if that was the case or if I was recognized as being " that guy". I will say that I made it to the back counter, made my purchase and left again with my backpack. Whether that's because there was a policy change or because I was recognized I suppose it's an...
Read moreMy partner and I went in to pick up the next edition of a comic series i have been reading. We walked out of the comic section having spent $50. About $35 more than expected but we just kept finding stuff we were interested in. When we got close to the counter, my partner was looking at a game, when one of the employees walked up and excitedly told him all about it, even providing a sample instructions booklet for him to glance at. She then mentioned that on their "game side" they had more sets and helped us ring up. We had only been to the shop one other time, and had somehow missed that there were two other parts to heroes and villains. So off we wandered. Long story short, after spending waaayyy more than we had planned to, we came out of every part of that shop with something, happy as could be. The two gentlemen in the game side were super helpful and informative. The game side in general was well organized, and had a paint section to make any ttrpg painters dreams come true. I ended up leaving with 2 beautiful paints that are multi chrome. Now, the record portion of the shop. Probably the highlight of our trip. The woman who was running the record portion was super sweet, and helped us pick out equipment and cleaning supplies that fit our needs, and didnt try to upsell us needlessly. After we got to the counter with our desired records, and equipment picked out, she made a wonderful recommendation of a few records that hadn't made it to the floor yet due to how busy it was. They were not expensive records or anything out of the realm of what we were purchasing, rather they were 3 perfectly suited records that were all under $10 each. Basically, we have accidentally found a brand new favorite shop for all our geeky needs, and honestly we couldnt be happier. Thank you guys for making the experience...
Read moreI lowered my previous review to one star because its still a great spot to but only to gander around. The reasons for the lesser is way ocerpriced on certain items. Some of the model kits I can get for less then $25 on Amazon vs their price for the same kits which after tax will be pushing $60 or possibly over. I dont know how they price things but there are better deals out there for sure. No sense in paying double or triple the price of something you can get elsewhere for way cheaper. The staff and team running it are very chill but also seem very stand off-ish to participating or being involved in any way with other local events and things for the community. Just baffles me because they are one of the biggest shops in Tucson and you'd think they would want to be more involved. I recently went there and just asked if they could put up a flier I made to help me promote my own show the Tucson Kaiju Festival and they said very un enthusiastically "we really don't do anything like that". And 4 years ago when I did my festival for the first time I got more of the same attitude and answer. I just wonder why, because you'd think being a local shop they would be all over being apart of other events that speak to the community that like to shop there and people that work there. Love it as a place to shop and gander around, but the outside engagement just...
