I recently bought a necklace that is meant to hold a small bit of cremains and wanted the first letter of my dog's name put onto it. This is the first place that told me that most Jewelers use a machine to engrave jewelry and that because my pendant isn't solid the machine very well may punch a hole in the pendant. He said that I should have it engraved by hand and have it done by a very experienced professional so that the pendant isn't damaged. He was honest enough to also tell me that this time of year is so busy that he doesn't have the time to do the work right now but if I'd wait until after the holidays he would be more than happy to hand engrave the initial onto my beloved, gold, heart pendant.
