Fletcher Pilates — Local services in Tucson

I had high hopes for this studio based on reviews and their one-on-one classes, but unfortunately they are expensive and were unaccommodating. If you can make their pricing and schedule work, it seems others really like this studio. My experience was not good enough to justify the financial & time commitment to go back.

I signed up for the studio prep, which is 3 visits. It took 2 months to coordinate 2 of the 3 visits. I decided not to even bother with the 3rd one because it was such a hassle to make it work with my schedule. They only had 1-2 days a week that could accommodate class times after work hours.

They would schedule me, then call the day-of to cancel because the instructor couldn't/didn't want to come in that evening. The first visit I had, the instructor was openly happy that a different client had canceled because she didn't want to come in for them anyway. I felt like the instructors didn't want to be there coaching my sessions and was cancelled on multiple times. When they did show up, they pushed me to join group classes instead, even after I had clearly explained why I wanted 1:1.

They also have a policy that requires clients to cancel at least 24 hours ahead of time, which is understandable, but they don't hold the same responsibility for instructors cancelling on their clients.

They reached out to me months later, offering to reschedule the 3 studio prep sessions because they recognized they had poor scheduling with me before, but would now be better able to accommodate me. I thought that was good customer service, even if the follow-up was kind of late, and I scheduled again. Unexpectedly, my work hours got shifted due to a big project and I called as soon as I knew to let them know. However, they didn’t have other good options available. They simply do not have times that work for my schedule, so I didn’t want to try again and opted not to schedule any more.

Hoping this time they would recognize that their service just was not compatible for me, I asked them to consider a partial refund, which they refused. I can accept that and had not planned to seek a refund initially. But the reason they gave me for not being able to refund the 3rd, unused, class was because I wasn't able to cancel earlier than 24 hours before and they claimed I had multiple late cancellations previously so they were going to count the 3rd one as me using it.

Ultimately, I understand that they have to run their business and are trying to get leads to get new clients. But the way they handled customer service came across as insincere. They didn’t genuinely offer to redo the studio to make the first bad experience right. They will hold every line for clients to make sure they get their money, but they won't hold the same lines for their business and instructors to make sure clients get their...

Recently, several "sessions" were conducted on the same side of the studio: a 4 person coretet, and 2 different privates, one of which carried on a very loud conversation which was quite disruptive to the rest of the participants. It seems to me that these 2 privates certainly could have taken place on the other side or in the classroom. Often times when private sessions are being held during the same time as coretets on both sides, there is excessive and excessively loud discussion between teacher and student. I would like to suggest that management request of/remind the instructors leading these privates to have a bit more respect and awareness of others in the studio and remind their participant of the same. I completed the Fletcher Comprehensive Program in 2014! I was totally engrosed in the program from day one!! The progtam is an opportunity to study with the best instructors and leadership in the pilates environment, and learning the pilates method with a remarkable group of colleagues! The program changed my life!! I have my own studio (whoo hooo) and feel I have the knowledge and comfort level that i can share with my clients!!!
