This place suffers from the disease of success. More often than not, the more successful a business gets and the more it expands, the worse the training and customer service. Look at Wal-Mart, Target or Staples. The employees are partially to blame when it comes to lack of product knowledge, but it's probably the companies fault because it's just too common a problem in those stores.
But I digress... My experience at Dick's went like this. I walked in and wanted to purchase a North Face jacket set. One of the sets that has a water proof outer shell and a zip in liner. So, I headed to their North Face section. I found a jacket I liked, but it was 2 sizes too large. I found an employee and asked if she could check to see if they had my size. She told me that she didn't work in that department and she would find someone that did. After checking with 2 other employees, she could NOT find the person that was supposed to be in the Outerwear department, BUT one guy was willing to help me.
So I explained to him that I like that jacket that was in my hand, but I need a smaller size. He proceeded to walk me back to the Outerwear department and look through each rack of jackets to find a smaller size. (Like I didn't already do that?) (Also, he looked through jackets that were completely different colors, styles and brands from the one I was holding!) After going through the entire department, he said, "I can't find one." I responded with, "Neither could I."
After 3 seconds of staring at me, I asked, "So, do you think you could check and see if you have more?" I could see that he was about to say that he couldn't find any, so I spoke up again, "You know, in the back? In the stock room." Then it dawned on him what I was talking about. He told me that he needed to find someone else to check in the back. After waiting about 25 minutes for someone to come back and speak to me, I hunted the guy down and asked him if someone was checking and he said there was. He found the person checking as they restocked a shelf. She said that she never checked because he never gave her the product information. He just said to go look for a blue North Face jacket. The jacket I wanted wasn't even blue.
I placed the jacket on the nearest rack and walked straight out of the store. I can't imagine why I would...
Read moreWhat could have been a very unsettling experience turned out to be better than I bargained for. I called another DICK'S store to see if they would transfer the product I wanted, and they told me it would be coming to the request site in Turlock. After a few days, I had not heard anything, so I called to see what the situation was. I was able to speak with Anna, who was fantastic the whole time. She assured me she would check on the status of my order and would call me back. If I am honest, based on other experiences with people in this day and age, I found that assertion to be dubious. Lo and behold, she called me back saying that my order was already there, but that the previous store wrote down the incorrect phone number to contact me.
I told Anna I would be in right away to get my order. When I entered the store, it was very clean, presentable, and the employees greeted me. Somehow, Anna knew it was me, and I left feeling like a valued customer. Anna went above and beyond to contact her supervisor and straighten everything out, and communicated effectively every step of the way.
It was evident that the staff there took the situation seriously, and even apologized on behalf of the other store. She is a fantastic associate, and I will be back again soon. It came as a shock that the price was even lower than...

I walked in saw kiosk as I scanned my phone an employee greeted me and within Iâd say 7 minutes my kayak was sitting by front doors. Got my paid receipt and employee carried it to my truck. Just took it out last weekend thought it was gonna be maybe alil unsteady? Because I was comparing it to a friends kayak I had been out on when I decided to buy one for myself, it actually cost a bit more and was alittle heavier and a lot thicker than the kayak I purchased . Got mine on a big sales weekend Not knowing anything about kayaks well I got home thought this seems like itâs made of alot thinner material kinda cheaply made ?
