Another "service" review here. I went in to pick up my two day old online order. Got my email confirming it was there with no pick up deadline indicated. Good thing since I was out of town on an emergency. When I arrived to pick up my simple order ( one ream of standard copy paper and one common HP cartridge; both items in stock at the Upland store) the young man could not find it. I said 'can't I just get the items since you have them in stock?' "NO! These items were ordered especially for you". He went to ask his managers/supervisors about it. She said "this is an abandoned order since you didn't come in to get it". I said there is no deadline indicated on my email dated just two days ago and why can't I just pick up the items since you have them in stock? But Noooo, instead they treated me like a child being punished for being tardy. Both the supervisor and her sidekick could have represented your company and store better. I think I'll start going to Office Depot. Also, I took a legal document in to the same store for 4 sets of copies. I should have checked before I left the store but when I got home I found a whole section missing from 2 sets of copies. I called and they said it should have been verified before I left the store. At the register, the cashier said the access card was not activating and then said, “can you go grab another one otherwise I have to get someone to get it” I was shocked because well customer service expectations but I went. After so many tries the switched code did not work and I even went to the support link given.
Finally called to see if they would just switch it. They said yes with a receipt. When I came in the girl said to go get another one AGAIN and so I did, while she called the manager. The manager came finally after a while and said nothing to me and asked what the return was in an annoyed tone to the cashier. Then I was told that they would return my $$$ in a few days and had to charge me a whole new account now. It is not like I “broke” the code. You sold me one that did not work. Read moreI had looked at several other non-Staples stores where I had found the particular items before, but they didn't have them anymore. Someone told me to check at Staples, and there they were. Easy to find, enough in stock, and I was ready for checkout. I was on the phone the whole time, and needed to remain so. That did not make checkout awkward at all. I indicated to the associate that I was on the phone, she nodded, and we proceeded to whisper anything to each other. That included whispering how are you, did you find everything, and did I need help with anything else. I appreciated her flexibility with me staying on a phone call I needed to finish.
