We have new furniture on our deck. A couple of months ago, we had a 15 year old set of cast aluminum furniture - table, four chairs, umbrella stand. The paint was mostly gone with lots of bare metal showing and the slings on the chairs were worn out and falling apart. The set looked like it needed to be replaced or restored. I found The Southern Company while searching for firms that restore deck furniture on the web. Dennis Foley of The Southern Company told us that our furniture was made by Belaggio and was worth restoring. A quick check of prices on the web confirmed this, so we sent our set to The Southern Company for restoration. Dennis also helped us select a paint color to match the new slings we had selected. He talked us out of the color we had originally selected and we are glad he did. The color he suggested is a much better match for the slings. The new baked on finish on the aluminum looks much better than the original finish ever did. The original was spray paint and not baked on. Frankly, for furniture subject to the weather, a baked on finish is the only way to go. These guys did great work. Restoration isn't cheap but for us it was less expensive than replacement and it gave us the freedom to pick our own colors. If your furniture is good enough to justify restoration, then send it to The...
Read moreMy 25 year-old set of Winston outdoor furniture was delivered to my outside deck this morning after refinishing and replacing the straps. It looks brand new! My experience with the Southern Company has been excellent. From the first phone call, to the pick up of the sad looking old furniture, to the time to restore (which took exactly as long as estimated), to the delivery of gleaming, new-looking furniture back to me there was not one interaction that needed any improvement. The Southern Company is truthful, honorable, and fulfills its promises -- all at reasonable prices to boot! I am so glad that I decided to restore my high quality, American-made furniture instead of replacing it with the inferior-quality made-abroad lightweight stuff that you see featured in outdoor furniture stores today. I would not hesitate to wholeheartedly recommend the Southern Company and I look forward to using my newly-restored outdoor furniture two days from now when we celebrate the 4th of July with a traditional back-yard barbecue. Happy 243rd...
Read moreThe only problem with our furniture was the fabric seems on the surface that the company was good, process took way longer than they told us when the furniture was returned they had disassembled the chairs to install the fabric they broke off inserts that held the bolts which then the bolts fell on the patio the first time we use them. My wife called to see what could be done basically she was blown off told it wasn't their problem because it was the frame and the furniture was only there for the fabric to be redone. I would have at least expected a phone call when it happened and given the opportunity to have it repaired knowing there would be a cost attached now I have furniture that is broken and we'll have to try to do the repairs myself the only thing I can say is do a very close inspection upon return or pickup of the finished product and don't expect any customer service after the sale apparently that's not...
