Based on our recent experience, I would like to offer some cautions if you chose to stay at this hotel.||Our initial room assignment was on the back side of the hotel. About 50 ft away is a rail line which we found ran about 5 times during the night. I found the noise to be disturbing but my wife did not. But the most significant problem was the door latch to the room. We were able to latch and deadbolt the door from the inside but latching the door from the outside we found was problematic. Unfortunately, the following day, as we were ready to leave for the day, we found it impossible to latch the door. After several attempts, we contacted the front desk and asked for a maintenance person to fix the problem. After about 30 min. the maintenance person arrived and concluded that he could not fix the problem and noted that there are other rooms in the hotel that he knew had this same problem and had not been fixed! We had to gather our things and go to another room but on the front side of the building-certainly a nuisance. Before moving in we double checked to make sure the door latched from the outside.||Later that day when we returned to the room, we noticed that the shade for the window was broken-it was down and could not be retracted. Another call to the front desk. The result was the repair could not be done that day and we did not want to move again, thinking the shade could be fixed within a day. Needless to say, the fix did not come that day until we again called the front desk. They told me that a shade had been ordered and was not yet in but they would get a shade from another room! Which they did.||But that was not the end of the story. After being out that day, when we returned, we found that the door to the room was ajar-the deadbolt was engaged so that whoever was in the room while we were gone for the day, must have done that as a convenience because they did not have a wedge door stop and used the deadbolt to keep the door open while going in and out-the maintenance person who replaced the shade or the cleaning person servicing the room. Either way that was a big mistake. Fortunately, nothing was taken from the room, most likely because the room was at the far end of the hallway and there was no room across the way. But this was a big mistake by one of the hotel staff.||Bottom line-we were inconvenienced, wasted a lot our our time and we wonder whether the management is paying attention to the problems in this hotel.||The rooms were clean and the hot breakfast was consistently good and...
Read moreSince I am a Hilton Honors member, I was greeted with a snack bag of bottled water and Tasty Cakes. I had booked the wrong date and it was a non refundable rate. However, they were able to change my date and move my initial deposit to my current reservation. ||Hotel is very convenient- right off the Willow Grove exit of the PA turnpike. Despite closeness to Easton Road, hotel was quiet. Loved the free parking. Very close to shopping and restaurants. No pool but I didn’t have time. Did have exercise equipment but I didn’t use it. ||I had a king bed room. It may have been accessible because there was a lot of room around the bed and in front of tv. There was also a sofa bed with table. Bed was very comfortable. Had a microwave, refrigerator and coffee machine. If I had a doggie bag from a dinner out, I could bring the food home and reheat. Had a desk and chair so you do do work. (Not in pictures) Plenty of electrical outlets and USB ports on night stands and tv desk. Had luggage table and 3 drawers for storage. I don’t recall a closet with hangers - but it is summer and I didn’t have a clothes to hang up. There is a hook in the bathroom. My bathroom had a big shower, one sink. Had a variety of toiletries- face soap and in bottles hanging in bottles from the wall was hand soap, lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. The shower was in the footprint of a tub so it was a nice size. Also had a short shelf that you can sit on if you need it. |Had a nice breakfast from 6 am to 10 am. With scrabbled eggs, pre made omelets, sausage (but not bacon) French toast, make your own waffles, cereal, fruit, bread and bagels- something for most everyone. There is a small convenience section by from desk if you wanted TV dinners, snacks and beverages. For other meals, you would have to drive a short distance but there are plenty of restaurants, convenience stores and other stores. On the first floor there seemed to be several rooms with doorbells so I would assume those rooms were heating/visually accessible rooms The hotel seemed family friendly- there were a lot of families and couples.|I’d come here again for...
Read moreWe checked in on a Monday. It was a very hot day in the Philadelphia area. Needed to run air conditioner continously. Tried to set fan to on vs auto position so the sound of the compressoer kicking on and off would not disturb our sleep. No matter what position it was on the fan would kick off when the compressor stopped running. This would happen every 15 to 20 minutes waking us up. Also the door to the room was not square with the jam and you had to push real hard to open it and it would make an extremely loud sound that all the rooms near by would here. To top it off, when we tried to leave the room Tuesday morning the lock mechanism failed and we were trapped in the room - imagine if there was a fire or medical emergency! Maintenance was sent up and was able to open the door from the outside with the electronic key card but could not get the door to open from the inside. We were staying for two nights so requested a different room. When we moved are belongings we noticed everything we had the room refridgerator was frozed and ruined. We told the three people at the front desk about this and all the demonstrated was apathy and suggested the temp setting might need adjusted! Night two - same thing with the room air conditioner plus it would not cool below 70. After an early breakfast we grabbed a luggage card and took the elevator to the 5th floor. Upon arrival, only the inside half of the elavater door opened - not the outside so it appeared we were now stuck on the elevator! We were able to take the elevator down to the 4th floor, exit and get the second elevator to the 5th floor! After a ten hour drive home I checked my credit card and saw a charge for $201.41 from Hampton Inn Willow Grove! I booked the hotel through a 3rd part a month a go and already paid for the room thru trip.com. Shame on you Hampton corporate for not having better management and oversite over your locations! This facility is unsafe and the management and staff...
