This is a great gym but Iâm writing this review because they seriously they need to do better on the child care. First of all is not the first time I arrive to the day care at 4pm and I only see 1 person taking care of several children and checking them in all at once as the time starts to get busier. Every time this happens I question my self if I should leave my daughter there or not. The last time I was there was only one young man with a crying new born and other children as I walked in with other parents, I had my toddler and they had about 4 children. The young man approached us to check out children in and the parent in there allowed me to go first, I scanned my barcode and the young men behind the desk was holding the crying baby and trying to check all of us, he was there by himself with no help at all. A little girl even said âthere supposed to be more than one teacher hereâ. He went ahead and told me to get my daughter in, I taught I was all set so I left to workout. When I went back about 2 hours later my baby was crying and she smelled like poop, there was another young lady who told me not to go because she needed to talk to me, she said (in a condescending way) that they couldnât call me to change my toddler because I wasnât checked in, so I told her I did check in and she prodded to tell me that I just dropped my daughter while the other guy was checking other people in. Of course that wasnât true but I wasnât gonna argue with her but I did tell her that theyâre supposed to let us know if they had any issues checking us in. Now this is not to blame the young man at all he was doing everything he could with a crying new born in his arms but is not the first time there is only one person in there with several children at the busiest time and itâs unacceptable, I went and changed my toddlerâs diaper and she had A LOT of poop, it already looked hard so it looked like she was like that for a long time and that really upsets me, and as a parent I feel defeated by their child care and management for not putting enough effort for the MOST IMPORTANT department in...
Read moreI really donât have a lot of positive to say about this place. First off, it is always packed, So be prepared to switch up whatever you thought you was gonna work out because you never know what youâre going to be able to do. I have been here at different times of the day ranging from five in the morning till four in the afternoon and there has not been a single time It hasnât been extremely packed. Secondly, it Is extremely dirty. People wipe the machines down after they use them, but nobody cleans up the machines around the base of the floor, there is dust and hair and gum and garbage, absolutely disgusting. There was spit marks on the mirror in front of the Smith machine for two solid weeks. The menâs bathroom is absolutely disgusting. They get in there and they power wash the floor with bleach and you walk through there with puddles of water everywhere. But they donât Seem to clean the toilets, there is stuffed dried all over it, hair, dried up pee. Toilet paper all over the floor all the time.. Itâs only been open for a little over a year but you would think it is a 20 year old gym with how dirty it is.. If youâre the type of person that want to video record yourself working out then I guess you might like it, but myself I canât stand seeing the tripods all over the place all the time.. Lastly, if you donât sign another contract, your rate goes up and they did not explain that. Plus I got charged a $75 annual fee that nobody told me about, so when I canceled I asked if I would get that prorated back since Iâve only been seven days past the contract And they said no, And on top of that, theyâre going to make me pay for another month after this even though it says cancel anytime you canât cancel canceling time. You still have to give a 30 day notice. I thought I was going to love this gym when I first got there, itâs huge and lots of equipment, heavy dumbbells. But they just donât take care of the place. I would rather pay way more for a...
Read moreMy mom and I signed up online for the 27-cent promotion. We visited today for a tour, but the experience was disappointing. The manager spoke about the $10 "360 Program." I mentioned I had spoken to someone previously who told me it was free. When he asked who I spoke with, I couldnât recall the name, but after checking my call log, I realized it was the Urbandale location. He claimed it was probably the South Side running a promotion, even though theyâre not open yet. When I asked how I would access the 360 Program if the location isnât open, his explanation was dismissive and condescending, saying, "It's a pre-grand opening, so pre means before the grand opening."
After this unpleasant interaction, my mom and I decided to share a membership and use the guest pass instead. When I told the front desk employee I wanted to cancel, she brought me to the computer, looked up my account, and asked, "The one you just signed up for?" I confirmed. She then said, "Well, you're still going to pay the $30 for the month plus the annual fee." My mom pointed out that we had three days to cancel, but the employee said she needed to check with her manager.
When she returned, she said nothing. After a few moments of silence, I asked, "So what did he say?"He said it's fine. He doesn't want to deal with it and just wants to get you guys out of here." I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and how directly dismissive her response was. She grabbed my signature and walked off without another word.
Thankfully, Alex, another employee, overheard the situation and confirmed my cancellation. He was polite, knowledgeable, and handled the situation better than anyone else there. Itâs unfortunate that Alex isnât the manager because he demonstrated far more professionalism than the...
