True honest review I waited 1week before leaving my review to get to know my baby. On July 27th 2025 I came across a TikTok live of the bird shop. The shop was extremely busy which I can tell was a nice friendly environment. As most should know, you canāt speak about pricing on TikTok, so I called the shop to inquire pricing on an African gray. The gentleman that I spoke to, which was the gentleman on the live, canāt recall his name was very knowledgeable, helpful and handled the chaos with gracefulness with the live of the Tiktok and the store being so busy phone ringing off the hook. He handled it so well. Very professional business and customer service. He even did a FaceTime call to meet each other and meet the African grays he had available. He showed me one after telling him what I was looking for that he felt would be the best fit my request.
Now onto the goodsš As one knows the shop is in Michigan I however, am in Missouri. I have been wanting an African gray for some time now, but pricing is ridiculous. After finding out exotic bird shop pricing and the customer service I experienced, I decided to move forward with my purchase of my baby African gray. As I stated above, I seen and came in contact with the shop On July 27th. My precious Jasper was delivered by air the following day. I was kept in the loop via text message every step of the way from pictures of receipt transaction, booking the flight, the flight information, Being dropped off at the airport and with any questions I had. If I text I was getting a response back. My baby is the sweetest baby. I currently have a blue and gold Macaw which I adopted several years ago from a local rescue group. I also have a Major Mitchell cockatoo that I purchased a couple of years ago from a local pet shop in my area. So I have tons of experience with exotic birds. I personally cannot handle either one of my previous birds, but my husband can. They pick their people and he was that person for them. So I wanted one that I could personally handle and be friendly with me directly. This baby Is so friendly with not just myself, but my husband as well. I can pet this baby, I can handle this baby. Iām obsessed. I 1000% recommend purchasing your exotic birds from this shop, even if youāre not local. They even offer financing if thatās needed. The only negative part of my experience was the flight being delayed numerous times due to weather in Michigan. Which I do not fault the shop at all. I was informed that my baby was dropped off at the airport well before takeoff. So that part had nothing to do with the shop directly. If you are interested in obtaining an exotic bird this is your place to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAt the exotic bird shop, I could tell they have very knowledgeable people that take phenomenal care of their birds! You can definitely tell the workers there see this as much more than a job. One of their workers there, Jacob, spent an hour thankfully educating me and showing me all the different breeds that might work for my lifestyle. I can't thank him enough for all I learned today and for the one parrot in particular I was introduced to, and am praying is still available when the time comes (though if he sells before then, and isn't meant to be I know there will be one eventually from here that is ā¤ļø)
In short, I at minimum today by just coming in gained a lot of valuable knowledge. This knowledge will make it so that over the next few months I can prep everything I need to hopefully welcome the bird of my dreams or similar into my life. I will be back after my family and I get our new home that prepares the space for an eventual family member from this storeā¤ļø and this will probably become my favorite shop to spend all my extra free time soon!
So If your looking to even just get into birds, PLEASE go here instead of somewhere like PetSmart! All the animals at the exotic bird shop, you can definitely tell get all the proper stimulation they need and more, and the wealth of knowledge the workers have to offer is something I've never seen at any other store that sells exotic birds. The exotic bird shop is very ethical, and I wish there were more stores like there's.
Update: I just went back in there yesterday and again I was in awe of the wealth of knowledge that is offered at the exotic bird shop! I even noticed one worker kindly educating a group of young ladies on where you should pet a parrot, and why other areas can be a bit harmful to your relationship with them.
Again, you can definitely tell the exotic bird shop cares about their birds. This is quickly becoming my happy place ā¤ļøš„° and I'm also unfortunately quickly noticing that there are some grossly inaccurate reviews about the exotic bird shop, that these kind and caring people don't deserve.
Update: I found the perfect baby here with the help of Jacob and Ari ā¤ļøš„° what I love even more is she got to choose me š„¹š„¹ welcome home honey badger,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just want to start off by saying WOW. I never knew a bird store that only sells birds could be SO uneducated. When you first walk in, the place is trashed out and hasnāt even been in business for that long⦠after I stepped through the door, I was looking for some bird food to feed my budgies. All I could find here was really bad seeds, and also sugary pellets. For those who arenāt aware, birds need way more than just seeds. They should be getting a balanced diet of veggies, herbs, and GOOD pellets every single day. When looking for pellets, itās key to avoid any artificial colors or flavors, avoid low sugar, while the only pellets I could find at this place contained both artificial colors/flavors, and had high sugar content. Moving onto the birds, they look absolutely sickly. Most of the conures were missing tails, most birds were plucking, and the cherry on top for me was the breeding of crested budgies, which barely have a quality of life and are prone to a short lifetime of health issues. The last thing I want to add, is that you should NEVER pet a bird under its wings. Regardless of how old the bird is. Just remember, head, beak, and feet are all safe zones. Anywhere else, can actually turn your bird on, leading to even more health complications and potentially aggression. When I was in the store, the lady who was working proceeded to pet a cockatoo RIGHT UNDER HIS WINGS. I was absolutely embarrassed and horrified. All it takes is a simple google search. If you are looking to get a bird, please adopt and DO NOT shop. Birds are one of the most rehomed pets due to places like this. Donāt listen to any advice they give you. Instead, if you are looking to get a bird look for a rescue. Places like this are unethical and SHOULD be ILLEGAL. They donāt care about the health of the animals CLEARLY⦠they just want your money, and will give you terrible advice on purpose, so the animal passes and you come back for another one. Itās the unfortunate reality of pets stores. Be part of the change, and donāt go here. I will...
