I took my brand new 2018 vehicle in to have the side repainted after it had been scrapped up. Less than a month old and my husband accidentally had an altercation with a wheelbarrow. Nothing too crazy was done, no body work, just re-painted and whatever that entails. From the moment my vehicle arrived at Abra I never received any communication about the status of my vehicle, even when I was told numerous times I would be receiving calls. This was not the issue although it was frustrating.
When my vehicle was done being re-painted in a little over a week, I went to pick up my car. Immediately looking at the paint it was obvious there was multiple issues. Black flecks in the paint, drip marks, and a few raised bubbling small spots. I immediately pointed out the issues. The guy at the shop acted like he couldn't see the issues at first saying "you have better eyes than I do". Let me be clear this was very visible to the naked eye! I thought he was joking but he was not. After a lot of back and fourth with numerous comments about how hard it is to paint a vehicle to factory standards, he finally called over the manager to look at the car. The manager immediacy acknowledged the issues and said they would take care of it, and the car would be ready the next day they could simply buff it out. Great!
The next day I go to pick up the car and it looked good minus a few little pin sized bubbles that I wasn't worries about, the manager and associate assured me that they had a warranty on work and I had nothing to worry about. This is where things went down hill. After having the vehicle home for just shy of a week, I noticed the paint was starting to sag or have drip marks on the runner board and door. I also had two decent size chips in the paint that come off, because this was an insurance recommended shop I called the insurance company to tell them what was going on.
After trying to reach the shop a few times and leaving messages, I finally brought the vehicle back in for them to look at. The manager saw the issues and immediatly stated "we didn't paint the runner boards" YES! YES YOU DID! He argued with me about what work they did and finally says he will have to check his records and see what they actually painted?? He then proceeds to accuse me of picking the paint off my car where the paint chipped off! I cannot emphasize enough how rude the manager was. He was extremely off putting with his body language, his attitude and lack of understanding. After waiting for awhile he comes back and finally acknowledges that they did paint the runner board. He asks me "What do you want us to do about it?" I WANT YOU TO DO THE JOB I PAID YOU FOR!" ( I didn't yell, but I was holding it back certainly). He then explains to me that because I contacted the insurance company to let them know the experience I was having that I had essentially complicated the process and that it would now take longer to fix because I got "them" involved. He did not want to honor the work warranty as promised. The manager told me he would call me back after he got the approval from the insurance company to fix it. Four days go by and NOTHING. So I called and they finally agree to take the car in the next day. Ultimately, the car is now fixed and painted BUT it was a nightmare. This involved multiple trips, days without a vehicle and un-needed stress. I feel Abra Auto body does not take responsibility for their flawed work and frankly I would NEVER recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTerrible communication and customer service. My insurance company recommended Abra as a preferred auto-body shop; starting out was great, they were attentive, took down the information needed, asked questions and then sent me on my way. Communication declined rapidly a week after they had my car.
First it started with the miscommunication on when my car was actually completed which took an additional week, when I first dropped off my car they asked for a secondary phone number just in case I was not available which I gave them my husbands number, later they stated it didn't "save" in their system, so I had to pay an 4 extra days of the car rental. My husband picked up my car and drove it 2 miles and felt it pulling a little bit but we decided to wait and drive it until the next morning. When I got into my car my tire pressure sensor light came on. I had to add air to every single one of my tires. When I drove it, it pulled HARD to the right; I called my insurance and they stated I needed to contact Abra which I did.
I called on a Thursday morning and informed them that my husband picked up the car last night, my pressure light came on in the morning and my car was still pulling to the right and wanted to know how to proceed. The receptionist was VERY short and incredibly rude, their computers were conveniently "down" and they didn't have any appointments available until "late next week"; I asked if they would be reaching out to me to schedule the appointment or if I needed to call, she said they would reach out to me. I also asked if she needed to confirm my phone number and she said she had my information. Before ending our conversation she also stated I needed to take my car to Les Schwab and that the tire pressure and alignment don't work together....
It's been 12 days since I called and still haven't heard anything. I will NOT be taking my car back to them and I will NOT recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI previously left a 5 Star review and I am updating to 2 Stars. In a nutshell, the work was never finished and they have no interest in following up. In addition, some of the work turned out to be inferior. The car was to be ready 2/24/23 and they told me the last thing to do was pinstriping both sides on the rear doors but their pinstripe person would not be in for 10 days or more. I ended up taking the car with the understanding that Caliber would let me know when to bring it back. 5 weeks passed with no call so I called; left 2 mssg's over 10 days with no return calls. I finally got to go ahead to bring it back in so I did. I was told it would take 1/2 day and should be ready by lunchtime so I dropped it off at 7:30am and when I went back at Noon to pick it up the car hadn't moved. I spoke to the receptionist and asked what was going on with my car and this was the response, "Oh that silver Camry out there? We were just talking about that car. Nobody could figure out why it was out there". I looked at her and asked for my keys back and I left and have never heard a word from them since. That was in May, it's now July. So in addition to the pinstriping not being done, they glued the spoiler onto the trunk and there is dried glue that oozed out (see photo) In the same photo, you can see how the paint is not even and is faded and splotchy. Finally, the trim that was installed on the drivers side rear door was bent and dented when installed and doesn't even fit the window (see photo). I'm choosing a different shop to complete the repairs and fix what Caliber couldn't do right the 1st...
