I’m thrilled that we have this independent bookstore in Vancouver. I was impressed by the number of books and clear support for the LGBTQI+ community. I liked the little spaces with tables and chairs for customers to sit and read. And I thoroughly enjoyed looking at the little stationary, art supplies and gifts. The people seemed nice when I heard them talking to another customer, but no one greeted me when I came in or checked in to see if they could help me. So it is nice if you want to be left alone to peruse.

This store is phenomenal! Stopped by today and was amazed by their inventory. This store is filled to the brim with new books. Romance, memoir, sci-fi, fantasy, manga/graphic novels, you name it! I thought it was really sweet that they had a table with toys set up in the kids section, definitely shows that a lot of love and care has been put into this store. My shopping budget was low today so I just got a beaded bookmark, but I will DEFINITELY be back soon!!!

Non-existent customer service. I needed help and was ignored the whole time, so I had to find stuff on my own. When a cashier did notice me and I was able to make my purchase, she did not even bother to give me a bag to carry what I bought, so I had to awkwardly carry all my things 10+ blocks back to my parking spot.

Irony : noun : def. when you peruse every single section of a bookstore and find ā€œbook banningā€ and ā€œcensorshipā€ by virtue of what is and is not present.

But not when you find a black fly in your chardonnay.

To be clear: the owner(s) is under no obligation to sell what they don’t wish to. Consumers are under no obligation, in turn, to patronize the business.

I lament the loss of brick and motor bookstores locally and at large. Because of this, I do make a point to visit them at least once and, no matter what, make a purchase.

I was able to find some titles I was interested in, including though not limited to:

Grayling, The History of Philosophy Russell, The History of Western Philosophy Chompsky, Who Rules the World Applebaum, Gulag

Can’t remember the others: they are lost on my bookshelves.

But don’t expect to find histories by Paul Johnson, socio-political commentary by Thomas Sowell. Etc., etc., etc.

Such are persona non grata—clearly.

This is clearly a safe space for only a select type of literary leisure...

I work at a local business and wanted to support other local businesses. I walked there with my small dog who I made sure did his business before going inside. The owner was very rude about me bringing him in while the other workers were very nice and welcoming. I then overheard the owner discussing with another patron in the store about how they don’t like dogs in the store because they pee all over. There was a better and nicer way to say you don’t allow dogs but the way she did it was very rude. There were no signs saying no dogs allowed either. First and last time I’m going there. Barnes and noble loves when I bring my dog in šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

In response to the owners comment as of 2/7. As stated previously. There was no sign when entering the store. I overheard you talking to the other patron about needing to put a sign up after having scolded me. Then later that evening I went back to return my book I previously bought because I did not appreciate the service and then saw you had put up a sign...
