There was no service on the patio there was a sign instructing you to go to the bar, the bartender Benjerman I believe was his name was helpful otherwise. Placed my drink & food order with him but they needed a card to hold in order to start running a tab so I gave him my debit card. When we went to close out our tab I took my friends card up to the bar & said I would like to close out my tab but need to switch cards so he gave me my card back, ran my friends card, signed the recept for $61.60. After getting home I'm checking my messages & see I have a text message from my bank showing a $61.60 withdraw to Brickhouse. So I drive back downtown, the bartender assures me that the money only came off my friend's card there's no way for him to run both cards that the money was only put as a hold on my card and it should be released within a couple of hours I checked a couple hours later, it wasn't released, I check this morning it's not released it's now 11:45 a.m. it's not released the restaurant's not open yet for the day going into a holiday weekend I don't have access to those funds/cuz they didn't release the funds I didn't know when they put a card on hold to run a tab that they actually run your card, plus according to their receipt they have the capabilities of seeing the "balances of your bank account" how intrusive is that, very disappointed!!
Otherwise the open mic was cool they had some pretty good people singing/bands! I had the Philly with tater tots & it was cold in spots it was kind of weird.
UPDATE 1 - 729pm 7/3/25 I have tried calling the bar & it rings & rings & then disconnects, the transaction still has not been credited back to my account I guess I'm going back down to the bar and I'm raising hell now, this has caused me a great hardship now & I told the bartender it was going to last night if they didn't release the hold on it.
UPDATE 2 - 822pm 7/3/25, something came up & I was unable to go back down to the bar, so I tried calling again and actually a female answered the phone I asked for Benjamin a male answered I asked if this was Benjamin and was hung up on I called again and the phone rang and rang until it prompted me to put in my PIN number or passcode to remotely access messages.
UPDATE 3 - 1115am 7/4/25 I logged into my bank account & at this point I pretty much had given up, but much to my surprise.....1 the pending POS transaction for $61.60 was still pending, but now there were 2 credits pending also, 1 was for $61.60 listed as an ATM credit & the other was for $61.60 also, listed as a POS credit.
FINAL - I have no idea why this happened but I am now happy that the owner or staff took measures to fix it & hopefully it doesn't happen to...
Read moreFirst experience here was terrible. I came here on a Friday night, just last week(3/4), with a few friends and our dogs. We sat outside in the covered portion of the patio and realized we needed to go inside to order food since there was no QR code for ordering or any staff outside to take orders. Which was fine, not an issue at all for us.
We came to this place under the impression they were dog friendly, to which they were not. I made my way inside and had to bring my dog inside with me. My dog isn’t unruly, in fact he’s a retired SD so we know how to behave in public. I waited in line and suddenly was tapped on the shoulder by a man who was working the front door. He told me dogs weren’t allowed inside (even though there was a dog sitting under a table inside the restaurant) and that I needed to leave. I asked him if I missed the section to order food outside and he said there wasn’t any. That orders needed to be done at the bar inside. I was very confused, since there was no ordering outside and if no dogs were allowed inside, how could I place an order?
I then proceeded to ask him how can I order food if I have no one to watch my dog and I can’t leave him unattended outside. He then told me “It’s not my problem” and said I needed to go outside with my dog.
While yes, I did come with a group of friends who could have possibly watched my dog, what if I didn’t? What if I was alone and simply walking downtown with my dog and wanted to try this restaurant that is supposedly dog friendly? There should be a better way to order food if people with dogs aren’t allowed inside to place an order.
But not only that, the staff who spoke to me should find a better way to address the issue instead of saying “it’s not my problem” and be dismissive.
The second issue we had while dining outdoors was the group of people who were chain smoking outside in the tent area. Since I wasn’t allowed indoors with my dog, nor did I feel welcomed to come inside, I couldn’t address the issue with any staff. The table was right beside us, and we didn’t feel comfortable addressing the party of 6 people that if they could please not smoke in the tent.
Overall, the experience left a sour taste and my friends and I unfortunately won’t be coming here or recommending this...
Read moreLoved the atmosphere! Quirky and I take to quirky like a duck to water. So much fun! I could see coming here often. Well, at least at first glance. I found the menu a little confusing, a general listing for burgers, but nothing specific, and then several house special items listed underneath, so I asked the waitress and she says I can get the specials with hamburger, so I say, great! Let’s do that with the Cali, usually chicken, but I’ll have it as a burger. When it arrives, looks like god made it with her own two hands! A plate of beauty. The fries were perfect, so I start getting excited. Can’t wait for the burger. Only it’s not the burger, it’s the chicken. And here is where I make my mistake… I think, it looks so nice, I hate to waste it. And I decide to eat it. So let me be clear here, I am not reviewing the mistaken order. Things happen. I could have asked for it to be taken back, maybe she just misunderstood me (although she says it’s her fault), maybe it’s the universe telling me not to eat so much red meat. No I am reviewing the chicken. First it was bland. And second, when I try to get it to my mouth, it starts to disintegrate in my hands. The bun soaks through instantly and squishes away from the chicken and I’m left with a pile of loose fixings. I try and pick through the mess for awhile eating the bread, the chicken, the lettuce, and the tomatoes separately, but after awhile, I give up. Anyway the server asks me how it was and I reluctantly say I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get the burger, and she says let me talk to the manager and see what they can do. I say that’s not necessary, but finally say thank you. When she comes back, they take $4 off for the iced tea (who charges $4 for an iced tea?). Yes, I ate most of it and no I wasn’t expecting anything, but offering something and then cutting just the iced tea seemed a little odd. I shouldn’t have even brought it up. They get one star for the fries and one for the environmentally sound paper straw. I suppose I give another for the fun feel and the nice waitress who at least tried, but that last star is on loan until I see how many I have at the end...
