My experience with relevant coffee spans from 2022 to now (2024). I haven’t left a review until now, and it’s unfortunate because up until a couple months ago this was my go-to cafe. It has now happened twice that I have had objectively bad experiences. Once, I explicitly and clearly asked for a drink, got treated like an idiot - needing to repeat everything twice, and then got the wrong drink - which I believe was done on purpose: the person making the drink remarked “I didnt hear you ask for iced either…”. I ended up not having time to switch it out. I think someone working at the cashier is really ruining your local clientele.

Today, my husband got me a drink but they served him something different than what was ordered. He doesn’t drink coffee so he didn’t check if it was correct (but honestly who taste tests coffee for people they order for??) and now I have paid 8-9 dollars for the wrong drink as well as not feeling great. You never know what people are going through and having rude people working for you can really start someone’s day off on the wrong foot, completely unnecessary, not to mention the cost involved. Its not Portland - I am sorry these prices are way too high for the value. If you’re going to charge 9 bucks for a coffee, you should at least be able to hire positive,...

So happy to find these ‘Mom n pop’ coffee shops in the ‘Couv. (I learned of this place through the local paper online.) Since I enjoy sitting and savoring my coffee beverage, this was an easy place to choose until... well, the shop itself was extremely small with inside seating for about 3-4 people (I.e. two singles and one couple). Luckily, it was a nice day that two small round tables were placed outside with two chairs each. I had to make sure I grabbed one when a customer left since inside was entirely occupied. The baristas were friendly and kind. I ordered a coconut milk latte (8 oz. for $3.75!). I was happy they had alternative milk options but shocked that they charged $0.75 extra! On top of that, the latte wasn’t that great. Maybe it didn’t have enough coffee in it? So I tried the drip coffee my husband ordered (12oz. for $2.75!) and it was not good at all. Sadly, it came from a hot thermos dispenser that was brewed earlier. I understand that it takes a tremendous effort to get a small business going and I’m happy to have tried Relevant Coffee but most likely will not return based on this experience. Expensive coffee beverages with low...

Stopped by to relax until next errand, it was raining outside and I was surprised the sign instructed to wait outside. Seemed bit outdated since I was boosted and could prove safety, but decided to follow the rules. I’ve waited 5 minutes waiting on customer inside to finish ordering despite the cold… Then had another cut me off and just walk inside without even paying attention to me.

So didn’t start out well.

Since it was my first time I wanted to read all the options, but the barista seemed uncomfortable, and urged me to decide. There was no one outside. So I chose a seasonal (hard to find, small print on left corner) and seated myself. It took 7 minutes and my name was not called. I expected smaller establishment would at least make effort unlike larger chain.

Cardamom spice was tasteless and barely warm to help me recover from the rain and waiting outside for $7 + tip, totally not worth it. Seating limited to 90 minutes which I’ve yet to see such restriction elsewhere. It’s too bad since interior is spacious and I liked the modern plant/wooden decor. It just didn’t meet the mark for quality product...

So when I first saw the sign for relevant coffee I thought it was a pretentious restaurant. This is because the sign is the word relevant but omit the vowels. Restaurants that do stuff like that are always way to healthy and expensive for there own good. Then by seeing a bag of coffee in a cafe/deli down the street I realized it was a coffee shop. Now I’m not saying this is a rule but it is a sort of guide line; pretentious coffee shops are often the best coffee shops. Relevant (or RLVANT) is no exception. I got an espresso, decaf oatly cappuccino and a black coffee. All were great. The espresso was Ethiopian which was very citrus forward but with a lovely earthyness at the end. The black coffee was a standard house cup balanced and unoffensive; not too bright, fairly earthy and not stale or over extracted or burnt (which is common in the PNW). The cappuccino was also just the ticket though I might get a shot of decaf all by its self next time to really put it to the test.

This is a beautiful coffee shop. The ambiance is stunning. The coffee was fantastic and the staff was friendly. I loved all of the plants. I also enjoyed the barista skill, coffee art makes such a nice difference. I recommend this cafe in Vancouver.

One of the coolest coffee places in Uptown, Relevant Coffee offers community, quality service, and great coffee. Just off of Main Street, you’ll be able to start your day with a rich variety of coffee experiences while catching up with the neighborhood. Regular customers include people of all ages and backgrounds who mingle comfortably together in the cozy space. You’ll often see familiar faces, community leaders, and professionals of all backgrounds. It’s a great place to network with new people in this growing coffee community. Mitch is a friendly and engaging owner who works with a passionate staff that knows their coffee. Every visit is always a unique experience. Make this your go-to place for coffee.
