Dollar General — Local services in Vernon

Had to edit my review: I went in to check out the revamped self checkouts and see if any new products had come out. My oh my how the customer service has changed!!!! The workers were just talking about other workers and the customers. Pretty sure I heard one of them use a derogatory word that is very racist. Guess the good workers either got fired or quit because they couldn't be mean enough!

Old review:Definitely the cleanest dollar store in town. Store had some holes with no product, but that seems to be the way things are now. I wanted a specific type of plate and they did not have it a week ago, but it was on the shelves on my trip yesterday. Very friendly workers, who were working very hard. Employees standing at the registers talking about another employee. One other customer in the store at self check. When I approached the register, I was told she would not ring me up. I was told I needed to use the self check. While somebody was standing at the register. I heard them talking to that other customer about how they changed their freight system, so basically, for the last 4 hours, they're just standing around and doing nothing. This seems to be the case as they will not help you in any way, even while standing right in front of a register. Worst customer service I have ever experienced in a retail establishment. I've been a retail manager for 35 years. This was shockingly shoddy. Need needless to say, I will never shop there again or any of their stores. All I have to say about this particular Dollar General is that it is by far the nicest one that I’ve been to. I was in the area so I decided to stop in for a few things. It was clean, organized, nothing on the floors, no boxes everywhere and you could actually walk around without thinking you may either trip on boxes or have something fall on you. I go to a lot of General Dollars, I have one 5 minutes away from me and another 10 minutes away. I will no longer be going to these stores, only this one. The store manager, Kristen is an absolute delight! Asked how I was doing, talked to me the entire time I was in checkout and wished me a Merry Christmas!
