Well this is a good and bad review. I would of loved to give a 5 star but unfortunately couldn't due to one employee. Where I would of given the 5 star is the fish are nice and the atmosphere is pleasant. The past 2 times I've been there in the last week the 2 gentleman that helped us were knowledgeable and pleasant to be around. They were good to us. I wish I knew names. Where I can't give a 5 star is due to the female that works there that always wears the straw looking hat and has shoulder length brown hair. She is absolutely rude and has a no people personality. She has no clue how to be kind to another human being whether it's the way she treated the guy waiting on me on the 8th or today her snapping at me while I was being checked out. On the 8th she raised her voice at the guy who waited on us which you could tell he was new because he left the plant in the bag with my beta. If it was that big of a concern she could have taken it out herself instead of be nasty about it. She then proceeded to smack his wrist with the money marker instead of nicely reminding him to use it. Not how you interact with someone and she must of forgot where she started from at one time. Today she told me well if you don't think you need it then you don't need it do you. When I proceeded to explain to her nicely even though her attitude was nasty that I have never had an issue and didn't ever use a switch valve for my air pump out of all the years I ran a some routine set up and when power went out it didn't syphon out. Her response was don't get it then it's that simple. She needs to keep in mind that she has a job there because people come in and spend money there. If customers don't come in and spend money businesses don't succeed. I try to support little local businesses and not chain stores but that lady makes me not want to spend money there and keep my business fully at Dotty's. Read moreWent in a few months ago to get some fish for our tank. We have Mollys and red eyed tetras in our tank. First impression was that the owners had zero care about their customers. They wouldn’t even spend 5 minutes talking to you about the concern of your tank. They would just brush you off. We wanted a few more fish that would get along with the current fish we had. They told us any fish tank with a green sticker was safe. Well that wasn’t the case. We got two tiger barns and tried several times to ask if they were sure they were compatible with our tank and kept giving us short yes answers. We wanted to know more about the fish and didn’t get these questions answered either. So we got two thinking because of the green sticker it was safe. Low and behold two months later all the fish in our tank are dead and who is alive? The one tiger barb who didn’t kill his mate and everything else. When we looked up the fish it said AGGRESSIVE WHEN NOT IN GROUPS OF 6-12!!! So now I have to replenish my whole tank, I’m saddened by the fact that all those poor fish had to die for no reason, and I will never return to this fish store because if they would have just taken five minutes to hear us about our concerns for our tank maybe we could have avoided now having to go spend a bunch of money to get new fish, AND get rid of this...
Read moreI went in prepared today to purchase 3 to 4 Cichlids and was very disappointed in the service today. I have had my cichlid tank for almost 3 years now, but am by no means an expert at them. I explained that I had some aggressive fish and asked what species in the tanks would most likely be compatible with mine as I was not familiar with what I saw. The guy watching over the store today said he would have know what I had in order to give direction on what would be okay but couldn't guarantee it. So I explained I had electric blues, some peacock's and kenyi. His reply was he couldn't guarantee, so I decided to show him some photos on mine so he understood what my fish were. I wasn't looking for any guarantee just some input on what type of fish may be compatible as far as aggression level. After showing him the photos of mine he still said he couldn't guarantee any would be suitable for my needs. I told him I wasn't looking for guarantee but just suggestions. At this point I realized this guy was clueless on what to suggest so out of frustration I left. It's unfortunate that the store was left in control to someone that is clueless for some of us that needs advice on how to spend their money wisely. So it looks like I have to travel to Preus Pets or Moby Dicks for good...
