I had a terrible experience at the Clothes Mentor on Roosevelt and owner Patricia Perich! After receiving no call or warning, my clothes were THROWN IN THE TRASH!
I dropped off my clothes and went to pick them up on and they were no where to be found. The women at the store said she would have the owner call me to see where my clothes were. I asked if there was a time period and was told ten days, but not to worry because they have kept items for as long as a month before and they give warning calls. I never received a call after my ten days was up, so I assumed the store associate just couldn’t locate my items. Later that night I received a call from the store associate that she talked to the owner and she donated my clothes when my ten days was up. I told her to have the owner give me a call so that I could go to the organization where she donated my clothes and try to salvage my items.
Keep in mind, I went to pick up my clothes on the 12th day, not the 30th. I was two days off and I wasn’t even aware of the policy. I know I signed a slip when I dropped off my items, but in all honesty, I didn’t read it nor know anyone that really does. Plus, the store associate didn’t mention it even though it was my first time selling with them. On a personal level, I was late because I was in and out of the hospital with this season’s bad flu. But regardless, if someone would have given me a call letting me know I was approaching my ten days I would have had someone pick up my items and arrange it with the store.
The next morning, Patricia Perich the owner, gives me a call to let me know that she didn’t even donate them but threw them in the dumpster on the 11th day. Not only am I upset that I never received a phone call to let me know my ten days were up out of common courtesy, but even more upset that my items were thrown out when they could have been donated. Even though my shoes weren’t in style enough for Clothes Mentor, at least I could have put a positive outlook on the situation knowing at least a homeless person somewhere could have had a new pair of shoes on there feet. Not to mention a few year dated Coach ones! I own a business and would never treat someone like Patricia Perich treated me. I believe in treating people how I would like to be treated and I do not believe Patricia Perich would have liked having her clothes thrown in a dumpster. It was more work for her to throw out my clothes, than just giving me a simple call.
I hope all of Patricia Perich’s clients, associates and friends know that she made the selfish conscious decision to maliciously throw out someone’s stuff instead of showing any human courtesy and giving them a call. And furthermore, choose not to think of anyone besides her self instead of making a donation of perfectly suitable clothing to those in need. I will never go to another Clothes Mentor again, I will share my terrible experience with everyone I know and let them know what a rude person...
Read moreI’ve always enjoyed shopping at Clothes Mentor in Villa Park, and I genuinely appreciate the selection they offer. However, there are two areas where I believe improvements could be made. First, I've noticed that on weekdays, around 6:50 to 7:15 PM ( sometimes earlier ), the doors are locked and they stop accepting customers, even though the store doesn't close until 8:00 PM and sadly this has happened multiple times. I understand that the staff may need time to clean or prepare for closing, but it would be helpful if the doors remained open at least 30 minutes before closing time and that last 30 ( around 730, if they need time to clean ) than lock the doors. Additionally, it would be great if they could post a notice, either online or at the door or both, to let customers know about this change. Secondly, I’ve had a few experiences with a staff member with red hair who hasn’t been as welcoming as I would hope. On multiple occasions, when I’ve entered the store, she hasn’t greeted me or acknowledged my presence, even though she has been friendly to other customers. Unfortunately, I’ve heard similar feedback from others at the nearby Plato’s Closet & friends that I know who shop here, which suggests that this may be a recurring issue. Despite these concerns, I still find the location to have fantastic items, and I’m hopeful that these small changes can be addressed to make the overall experience...
Read moreI wanted to share my feedback regarding my recent experience at the store. I traveled from Rockford, Illinois, bringing with me some luxury items, including a Burberry leggings set and exclusive Gucci glasses. Upon my arrival, I was informed that I would receive a text message once my items were scanned in. Unfortunately, it took over an hour for this to happen. I ended up having to call for clarification on the delay.
When I finally went inside, I noticed that the staff appeared to be inexperienced with handling luxury items. The young lady who assisted me seemed to be learning on the job and had to ask her colleague for guidance. When I received their offer of $69 for my luxury items, or a store credit of $80, I was quite taken aback. While I understand that luxury items don't retain their full value, I feel the offer was significantly below market value. After checking platforms like Poshmark and eBay, I saw that similar items were selling for much more.
It seems that there should be more training for staff, especially in handling luxury goods, to ensure they understand their worth and can provide appropriate customer service. Additionally, a bit more attention to the store's upkeep would enhance the overall shopping experience. Based on my experience, I would encourage potential sellers with luxury items to consider other options. Thank you for taking the time to listen to...
