UPDATED** 6/8/24 Unfortunately I needed to change my rating from 5 stars to 1 star Late April I wanted to get a “going to grey or transitioning to grey” color. I had a tons of inspiration pics to show ( included) At the end of the appointment I was asked if I liked it. When I looked at my hair I was kind of confused because it had a very dark blue/ grey tint(included but the pics are from a week later unfortunately and the blue isn’t showing)… but I thought “hey they are the professionals” even tho my hair didn’t look anything like any of the pics I showed After a week I couldn’t take it anymore… the point of spending over $300 (I don’t have a money tree in my yard. I saved up for this to treat myself, to feel more confident)was so I didn’t see my grey roots and didn’t have to cover them up. instead they should be blending into my new hair aka transitioning to grey
After about a week the blue tint faded (thank goodness) but it barely looked like anything was done to my hair Worst of all I called and made a new appointment with the manager. I was told he was the one to see. He would know what to do. I was so excited to maybe have someone with more experience looking at my hair and to tell me yes I understand what the problem is and how to help me Instead I was told that nothing was wrong, he would have done the same thing and I got exactly what I asked for and to come back in 4 weeks for a touch up. I just left I’m not a confrontational person but I was stunned and felt like a crazy person!
After that disappointment, I looked for another spot in the Vineland area somewhere that might be more experienced with hair coloring. I wanted someone who could hopefully help me and tell me that I wasn’t crazy. I went to Angie’s Color Bar and they completely understand what I wanted and told me to comeback so they could make it happen!
I finally had my hair fixed by Hannah they were so accommodating and I love the way my hair looks now!(included)
I understand lighting hair and going silver isn’t always easy but please when a customer spent a lot of their hard earned money and is obviously upset…help them and make them feel heard! I previously always went to Sabrina and always had a great experience but unfortunately I wanted my hair colored on a day when she wasn’t working…. I definitely regret not waiting for her!
3/21/23 Had my hair cut by Sabrina. Great job.. even the shampoo was the best I've ever had!
Amazing. 2 years ago...This was my first time getting anything done here and I got a Brazilian! I was super nervous but Erika was so nice and professional along with the other staff! Definitely...
Read moreABSOLUTELY unprofessional staff. From the front desk to the stylists-beyond shocked at this point. I called to schedule (Sunday 2/2 at 11:30) a trim and color for a Thursday evening and the receptionist seemed entirely confused on how to establish an appointment. I gave her my availability and date I wanted to come in for blonde color. She gave me the name of the girl that would work with me, and would not confirm if she was good with blondes-telling me that the blonde specialist was booked that day. Not helpful, but we proceeded to chat-5 minutes in at this point- she asked if there was anyone I would go to or not, and I told her a stylists name and said “not her” due to my last visit with her. The receptionist started getting snippy with me, and gave attitude so I explained why I would not go with that stylist and she got louder on the phone and basically said they couldn’t accommodate me. The issue with the last stylist was her attitude and unprofessional approach. I scheduled a time for a cut and color. I was plopped into a seat and she seemed like she could not accommodate me for a trim and color due to timing. This appointment was scheduled with the front desk (another issue with them). The stylist acted as though it was an inconvenient favor to color my hair. She walked away without discussing color preference and started mixing. She did not know what I wanted, did not consult, and when she came back with a color mixture, I asked her what she was doing with the color as we did not discuss it. She “mansplained” to me saying “It’s bleach. I mix it up and put it on and it lightens your hair”. I have been coloring my hair since I was a teenager-really?!? Additionally, she insulted me saying my hair was gritty. Never again with that stylist for me. I was hung up on when I asked the receptionist for the owners contact info. To the current owner: You really need to check your staff. The hassle is not worth it. *As I was writing this review, I received an email for the date I wanted, but your receptionist put me in for 12:15 PM…when I called I was very specific with her…after 6:30 PM. Apparently your staff member couldn’t understand the difference between later evening vs afternoon, but overall, she did not confirm before she so rudely ended the call. If she had given me the contact info this would have been a private email, she thought it best to...

Update: Dave, the owner, reached out to me after my last review. I wasn’t unhappy with my last cut, but I wasn’t thrilled about the outcome. Again, Cindy is a great stylist, but I needed something else for my curls. Dave read my review and asked if I was willing to come in for a complimentary haircut by Becky. Becky exceeded my expectations. I will be visiting again for a curly cut from her. I am beyond pleased by their customer service and would recommend Utopia to anyone. There is absolutely a stylist for you and your hair type at Utopia. Thank you Dave, Cindy, & Becky for your patience, understanding, and professionalism!
So I’m a 2c/3a hair type curly girl and I decided to give this place a chance after they told me that they have someone who specializes in curly cuts. Cindy is their curly hair stylist and while she is very sweet and has probably been doing hair for quite some time, when it comes to curly cuts she could use some more practice. Yes, she has a lot of training but not enough experience for the type of cut I’m looking for. I love how she layers giving me volume, however, I’m not a fan of how she cuts the rest of my hair. I moved out here from NY where you can find a deva stylist around any corner and are guaranteed to get the cut you’re looking for so my expectations are pretty high. I wasn’t happy with the very first one from Cindy but I came back to give her a second chance but aside from the layers, I didn’t love it. Plus the second cut she thought my hair was fine without washing and restyling it after cutting it which resulted in me shedding chopped hair all over everything and having to restyle it as soon as I got home. I’m not saying I don’t recommend her as a stylist because she’s good at straightening and layering but if you’re a curly girl looking for a dry cut you can leave feeling good about, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Drive to Philly if you have to. I don’t think Vineland has that type of stylist yet being that the demand isn’t that high yet. The customer service gets 5 stars but the cut itself...
