Extreme Escapes — Local services in Virginia Beach

Definitely between 2 and 3 stars. Potential spoilers ahead but the TLDR is if you are new to escape rooms you’ll like this but if you’ve done several you may want to consider options.

The room itself is straightforward; there were not any significant twists and the puzzles were not complicated. If you’re used to complex puzzles and struggling through an escape room this is not the place.

There were technical failures with the clock and with a puzzle. When the game master came to fix it, they opened several other puzzle boxes, ruining a lot of the suspense

The game master was trying to ensure we had a good time but unfortunately distracted from a lot of the puzzles. Multiple clues were unsolicited and I believe we would have figured it out eventually. For example, with one clue we immediately picked up the related items and the game master gave us the clue immediately. Additionally, at the end they requested to take a photo of us; I said yes but that I didn’t want to be on social media. They pressured me significantly to be in a photo for social media and teased me about it despite my refusal.

Ultimately the tech and game master need improvements to compete with more sophisticated games. I think these rooms would be fun for a younger...

Upon entering, the host was very welcoming and the realistic decor set the overall vibe of the room! It was amazing and definitely helps set an Egyptian feel to help you dive right into the game. The host began the game with the story of the curse and ended with helpful tips that left no question as to what was to be used as clues and what were props only. He was very friendly and helpful throughout the entire game! The Tomb of Doom storyline and clues flowed well, but it was definitely difficult for my team of only two people. We still had a great time overall and it was a fun hour. I do appreciate him letting us finish the game even though we didn't beat the timer. Looking forward to trying their other two rooms when they are finished...

Came in to celebrate daughter’s birthday with her friends and our host made the experience amazing! First time doing an escape room and we’re glad we did this one! Age appropriate for all ages and everyone from the youngest to the adults were engaged and able to contribute to every puzzle! Another great thing was how engaged the host was when we were obviously stumped in the beginning, and occasionally would chime in to make sure we were on track.
