I have been acquainted with Pete and Debbie Nunez, for over 25+ years. My association began through my now deceased Mother-In-Law who was a Lapidarist for 45+ years in Northern Virginia. When she retired, she moved to VA Beach, and discovered Nunez Jewelry, indicating that the Nunez's dealt in fine quality jewelry, were open and friendly, and provided personal service while being very reasonable in their pricing.

Having been directed to Nunez jewelry, we quickly found out that my Mother-In-Law was indeed correct! It didn't take long to establish a business and personal relationship with two people that not only care about their craft but also care about their customers as people. Walking into their store quickly became like walking in for a visit with a close friend. I didn't grow up in a small town, but I imagine this is what it must be like in a small town where everyone knows each other and seeing one another is not just about business. Very refreshing!

My wife and have made several purchases over the years and have been pleased with each one. Most especially, are 20 year wedding rings we designed with the help of Pete. He created marvelous unique pieces, that are eye catching, exceedingly well done and did not break the bank.

Now, after all these years, we don't bother shopping anywhere else for our jewelry.

I came here to have my engagement ring and wedding band sized (from about an 8 to a 4) and eventually fused together. They sized my engagement ring correctly, but sized my band almost half a size too big, and told me it was needed in order to have them fused together. Of course, I went along with it because they were the "professionals," after all! When I finally did get the rings fused together, and got them back, I noticed they didn't line up anywhere around the ring. After I showed my husband, he said you definitely need to take it back and get it fixed. So I went back a week later, and expressed my concerns, in a polite way. I didn't come in, guns blazing, demanding to speak to the owner. But, I felt like I was treated as if I did. I felt I was spoken to as if I had three heads, and like I should've known why it looked the way it did, saying that it was because I had it sized so small (which I can't help!) and because it was just a "generic ring" and wasn't "custom." I kept my thoughts to myself, and left extremely disappointed. I had spent a good chunk of change with them (they are definitely on the expensive side) and I was happy with them, up until that last experience, hence my rating. Keep getting postcards from this place and it brings up an awful time. I brought my engagement ring in to get reset at the end of 2007. I wanted Oscar D. to do it since he was a family friend from my childhood, but he wasn’t there. Just some elderly man in the back. The owners complimented my diamond (which was very “sparkly”, just a brilliant 1/2 carat!! Sadly, the one I got back was very dull- not the same diamond at all, and I looked at it every day for over 20 years. The owners tried to tell me it was cracked when they reset it and it was the same diamond. Several jewelers told me it was a low quality diamond with many defects. I called the police but just had a receipt no appraisal. Lesson learned. Too bad I did not have it appraised in 1990 after my husband proposed. I still feel sick about it. Got a new ring in 2008 a few months after this unfortunate incident but it’s not the same. Never will be. I still miss my diamond. I read the response from the owner regarding my review. I DID tell them there was a problem 12 years ago twice, and they told me they must have cracked it when resetting it and it was the same diamond. I believe it was not the same diamond and should have been replaced for no charge. I’ll never trust this place with my...
