So, this particular location (FC Road), I have been to a couple of times for rapid pickup because it's close to my office before heading to another place. Both times, no acknowledgement and when it was supposed to be in the window, my order wasn't there. But today takes the cake.
On the app it said that the bagel i wanted was available. When I got there, saw my name under "preparing" so I waited until the designated time it was supposed to be ready. Time went by, nothing. Name off the board. No acknowledgement by any employee. I'm literally sitting there for about 8 minutes. No hello, nothing. Finally, I ask the runner what I was waiting for and she sees my ticket on the counter. She asks about it, and ( i believe she was) a manager says, no everything bagel, all I have plain. Fine, but been sitting there, you had known that for more than the 8 minutes I was there, and if you would have acknowledged my presence I wouldnt have sat there waiting for a nonexistent bagel. I did take the plain bagel, and the runner did offer me something from the bakery which i declined. I was so disgusted by then because of the lack of even common decency to say hello. And the manager was not rude, but bleh, and not nice at all.
I do rapid pick up because every other Panera in this city is rapid! It might be busy because of your drive thry, delivery, other pickups, and mine today may have been minuscule in your mind but it is an order and i am a customer. Never going back to this one All other Paneras (Lynnhaven, Kemps River, Greenbrier) are just as, if not more busy, but i have never felt that "ugh" before. Everywhere is so nice even when they have lines...
Read moreHilltop, Virginia Beach. I was there yesterday. Standing before the cashier, I asked her politely if she could explain to me how the two-meal items meal works. I knew there was soup and sandwich, but I did not know there was macaroni and cheese and soup. She said nothing. She stared at her computer. I asked her again. I asked her again, but in a different way. Maybe she hadn’t understood what I was saying. Finally, she deigned to talk to me and all she said was do you want the macaroni and the soup? I said, yes, and do you wanna drink she asked . I said yes. The bill came to $15. My two for meal suddenly became two separate meals. Six dollars for a bowl of macaroni, six dollars for a bowl of soup. My friend had a sandwich and a bowl of soup and I believe she paid about $7.50 for it.
Oh, I’m not done. My soup was lukewarm so I brought it to the cooks and said, can you just pop this in the microwave for a minute, and the cooks said, “no, we can’t microwave it. There’s a microwave over by the drink station.” So I went to the fountain area and there was a microwave beneath the coffee station. I leaned down open the microwave, it was not clean, but I didn’t feel like getting sick from room temperature broccoli cheddar soup, so I stuck it in there. I don’t know if my experiences made my food taste unpalatable, but for the first time in all the years I’ve ordered that same soup at Panera, it did not taste good. It tasted...
Read moreI've debated on rather or not to post about the situation I witnessed yesterday while dining in. But decided I need too. As I was eating my lunch I noticed one of the employees approach a young lady who was recording and taking pictures of a disabled man, who I've seen in there before. This young lady was on the phone making fun of this man because of his disabilities. The employee noticed this and approached her letting her know that what she was doing was wrong and distasteful and that he too was a human being. The young lady left, obviously embarrassed because she got caught doing something so awful. But the more I sat there it made me proud that THIS is MY Panera Bread location. That the employees stand up for their customers. Even though my food order gets wrong at times or something may be forgotten. It made me proud to be a Panera customer that day. Way to go to the Panera employee who stuck up for that man who couldn't defend himself. And to the young lady who was making fun of him, shame on you and I hope you learned what you did was wrong. The employee herself was young. So it was nice to see one young woman stand up for someone. Because in today's world you don't...
