Update after the reply from Target 1/20/2021: Target - COVID 19 is not an excuse for rude staff. Also the pandemic has been going on for 1 year. There was no excuse that the phone had not been answered in 6 days other than it just hadn’t been answered. There was no excuse that my voicemail had not been returned. Your employees were doing what they felt like doing. Between Target Optical and Target retail I spend way too much money all the time with Target; not here and there. I go to Target almost everyday. I order online almost every week to two weeks - so If you guys want to start acting like Walmart I will take my money to the local stores and Wayfair exclusively. I’m not taking the bad customer service from from Target.
Original Issue posted 1/19/2021: So I ordered glasses 2 weeks ago. I had been calling since last week to see if my glasses arrived. My order is about $500. No one answered the phone during normal business hours for the last 6 days and no one returned my voice message. I called a few moments ago and got a snarky woman on the phone named Diane. She stated that she “texted” me yesterday which was the 18th and did I receive the text. My glasses were supposed to be in on or by the 17th. I said no she then says “Yeah we sent a text” and then says “Okkaayyy byeee” as though she is talking to an animal. Her tone was very dismissive as if I shouldn’t have called and as though they had not answered the phone in 6 days.
Target if your going to be late processing someone’s order at least have the courtesy not to put your rude staff on the frontline to answer a customer inquiry. We all know customer service is about HOW you communicate with customers. Patronizing customers and using “train the animal” voice is bad business. My child wanted to help me pick out glasses tonight and we were rudely informed by the only lady working in there (belive her name is Diane) that she had to wipe too many glasses down before we could even brose. Her tone said it all, she didn't want us in there! You could obviously tell she didn't want any part of my child in there as well! I get it everyone is short staffed and its been a rough year but by no means should you have been rude in front of a paying returning customer and an innocent child who adores shopping for glasses. My child left in tears!!!!! Very poor judgement of the way she used her tone and words. Just be kind! If she would have said in a nicer way that she would be right with us and she would be glad help we have a much different experience! Read morePrior to coming in I called. I spoke with "Mike" When I arrived "Mike" said that I must have spoken with the other Mike when I told him I had just called. This "Mike" was not very kind. In fact he was very matter of fact. I am new to wearing glasses and had some questions, he was curt and again very matter of fact. He told me "The other Mike" had gone to his car. Which I believe was a lie and I believe this to be true because he knew what my prescription was because we had discussed over the telephone. I will never come to that location again. I told "Mike" I would be back, but I didn't go back. I would never spend my money with someone like that. I'm not sure what his issue was with me as I was pleasant and inquisitive. I was inquiring about the Meta glasses for reading. I own Meta glasses and have since they first were introduced.
