Some things are fine. Mostly clean, bed is comfortable, shower has good water pressure. Decent service at front desk. Only reason for 2 stars.
But the sheer number of ridiculous ways this place has tried to cut costs at the margins add up to such a frustrating experience. In no particular order of why-not-just-spend-a-couple-more-cents-per-guest....
-Walls, as other reviews have mentioned, are incredibly thin. It is so obvious in your room where they have partitioned a previous space into two rooms with the thinnest lowest quality wall possible, and you can hear EVERYTHING if there is somebody in the room next to you. -Internet is too slow for anything beyond basic browsing/email and they try to upcharge you something like $12 a day for a reasonable connection speed. What year is it? -Lights in your room turn off without moving around a bunch, so you can be working on your computer and get plunged into darkness every 45 minutes or so. -Breakfast is extremely poor quality outside of the coffee even for hotel food, with weird stuff like bowls for cereal/oatmeal/whatever that are basically cylindrical cups you cannot possibly get a spoon into in any reasonable way... and then the spoons/overall cutlery are these child sized plastic ridiculousness that no appreciable amount of food can fit on -Elevators are incredibly slow for a 4 story building -TVs in rooms are extremely channel limited, so much for the hope of being able to watch a football game in my room on my day off -Window curtains are partially transparent for some reason -Pretty much zero shelf space in rooms, no closet/drawers at all if you wanted to unpack your bags in a convenient way -Trash cans in the room are so tiny that you cannot fit even a single small takeout container in them
I could go on. The small things sometime don't matter, but when you've cut costs and made ridiculous choices at every turn with them they really start to add up. No idea how this place has a near 5 star review aggregate...
Read moreEverything about pet-friendly Tru by Hilton Wake Forest Raleigh North was absolutely perfect! From check in to check out-extremely friendly and helpful staff, very clean and well-appointed room, perfectly sized shower and fabulous shower head, great pillows (two standard and two king-sized), plenty of USB ports too. Included breakfast had a really good selection of hot items as well as cereal and fruit. Coffee and tea available all day in the lobby. I came to Wake Forest, NC with my new dog, Dotty, recently adopted from Saving Grace Animals for Adoption there in Wake Forest. We had a two and a half hour drive to return for her second and third injections to kill her heart-worms. The weather was very hot and humid. It’s the South, right? But on steroids this summer it seems! So nice to get to this hotel for the required (for Dotty) overnight and into a room with an easy to adjust thermostat to cool us down, plenty of outside walking space, and on-site provided doggie waste bags and designated raised off the ground disposal cans.||I wish I could remember the name of the very pleasant young woman who checked me in around 2:45 on July 30 or the gentleman who was at the desk with Hannah when I checked out at 1:30 on the 31st, but all three of these folks were super nice, kind, and efficient. I really enjoyed my short stay and would return to this hotel in...
Read more2nights, room 101 - just got home. I read all the reviews ahead of booking and expected a comfortable bed and great staff…turns out it was only half right.
Joanne and/or Jaiden promised a manager would be reaching out and that person never did. I’m sure she passed on the need to address my concerns as the staff here was great.
Problems: Very very low water pressure. Terrible shower - took forever, couldn’t rinse off. Miserable.
Mattresses were like concrete. They are the cheap kind only about 10” high. You can hear the martial frame and springs creaking around in there. They do appear to have a quilted top but after 5min on it you would never know. We didn’t sleep at all the first night. We called front desk and was told to call housekeeping. Inexplicably housekeeping stopped by with TP for some reason then told us to call front desk to resolve bed and water issues. So we couldn’t sleep or have a good shower. Really the only two things that are really important, right? We each laid down a column of pillows on the “mattress” to sleep on but that didn’t really work. Both of us sore both days after “sleeping”…manager STILL hasn’t reached out. Not sure why I have to pay for this stay. Am I...
