We had been hearing great things about the breakfast at Hartura and tonight found ourselves nearby and ready for dinner. I’m so glad we stopped in because the food was amazing! We were greeted by Robert (one of the owners) and his mother and encouraged to sit where we pleased. After looking over the menu and Robert letting us know breakfast is served all day, we immediately started to plan what each of us would order. We quickly realized that the menu, full of amazing options of both NC and Dominican, we would need a second trip for breakfast. After decided we would for sure be back on Sunday for breakfast, we got down to the business of choosing our entrees. My husband went with chicken and dumplings with a side of potato salad and a side of tostones. My daughter chose the Cuban sandwich with a side of home fries and I went with the pernil (roasted pulled pork) and sides of fries and tostones.

To begin with, the portions were generous and everything was super fresh and smelled amazing. My daughter declared her Cuban was the best she had tasted and her home fries were seasoned well and tasty. My pernil was amazing! So tender, moist, and super flavorful. The tostones came with two sauces and we all shared and enjoyed. The chicken and dumplings were served in a giant bowl and seasoned well. The potato salad was a unique flavor that clearly had a little Dominican flare.

I cannot wait to go back in Sunday to try the breakfast! Robert and his family clearly are doing everything right because this food was amazing. Robert also waited on us and we had a great chat with him about the restaurant and the food. Definitely an easy 5 star...

Nice little home cooking spot with a hint of spice and everything nice. I tried the chicken and waffles. I added pecans to the waffle. The combo comes with two eggs. The chicken was seasoned well. It was really good, I didn't know what to expect because they used breadcrumbs instead of flour for batter. It's a chicken breast that is tenderized and covered in breadcrumbs, then fried. I like that they added two eggs in the combo because it adds more protein to help with the waffle. Its alot of food and it's seasoned very well. My friend ordered the Cuban sandwich, and it looked soooo good. Someone suggested this place for the shrimp and grits, but we were not ready for that today. We went around 10 am or 10:30 am. They had specials like : meatloaf with sides, stir-fry with side, hamburger steak, and more. They have a big variety of food dishes. I gave two stars for service because our waitress was missing in action. We had to ask the waiters to tell our waitress to come help us. Our service was bad, but considering how the other waiters were helping and checking on their areas showed that this was the work culture of the restaurant staff. It was just her. I like the location and people of all colors were eating there. They do have a bar, and they do service drinks. One to add to the list of...

I really wanted to like this place, but my hopes were dashed. I know this is a new restaurant, but they need a lot of work.

Upon arriving at the restaurant there was zero organization. Anyone can sit anywhere they wanted and they had no idea who was recently seated and who had been sitting waiting for over 30 minutes to be attended. Orders were taken from people who had just walked in the door over people who have been sitting waiting for the waiters or waitresses for over 30 minutes.

After waiting at our table for 45 minutes our waiter finally came to take our orders. When we received our food, my husbands order came back wrong, my order is missing food from what I ordered, my son who ordered Chicken and waffles; the chicken looks like it was frozen chicken tenders bought from a grocery store that had been fried way too long.

Sadly the food was nothing to rave about. I genuinely wanted to like this restaurant, but that there is much that needs to be worked out and improve...

We gave this restaurant a try yesterday and we were glad we did. (It’s in a former Pizza Hut building in Wake Forest. One thing I liked when we walked in is there are lots of windows.) The menu choices were quite nice — ā€œsouthern meets Dominicanā€ we were told, and there were many choices. I ordered lunch and my husband ordered breakfast (available all day). I had a delish club sandwich on toast with a fresh salad mix for the lettuce, which was a nice change. The French fries were frozen, but they were fine and there were other sides from which to choose. My husband had scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries (cubed potatoes with a little chopped onion) and the fluffiest biscuit. He said every thing was very good. Service was good; we will go back. Wake Forest has been lacking in breakfast restaurants, so give this a try. This is a family-owned business, another reason to support it.

If you’re wondering should you get a bite to eat from here…let me help you and say…… YOU SHOULDN’T… Maybe this place should only be open for breakfast because the dinner experience was by far the worst I’ve had locally. I literally threw the entire meal away. The Picadillo taste just like it looks… awful! Not to mention the old rice that was served with it … The macaroni salad smelled and tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge uncovered and had taken on that gross refrigerated smell of other foods…. the pork nuggets looked as if someone else’s order was repurposed for mine and they were inedible. Lastly, if you enjoy not being greeted with so much as a hello or thank you for ordering with us…. Then this is your place… otherwise., choose differently!!
