We had been hearing great things about the breakfast at Hartura and tonight found ourselves nearby and ready for dinner. Iām so glad we stopped in because the food was amazing! We were greeted by Robert (one of the owners) and his mother and encouraged to sit where we pleased. After looking over the menu and Robert letting us know breakfast is served all day, we immediately started to plan what each of us would order. We quickly realized that the menu, full of amazing options of both NC and Dominican, we would need a second trip for breakfast. After decided we would for sure be back on Sunday for breakfast, we got down to the business of choosing our entrees. My husband went with chicken and dumplings with a side of potato salad and a side of tostones. My daughter chose the Cuban sandwich with a side of home fries and I went with the pernil (roasted pulled pork) and sides of fries and tostones.
To begin with, the portions were generous and everything was super fresh and smelled amazing. My daughter declared her Cuban was the best she had tasted and her home fries were seasoned well and tasty. My pernil was amazing! So tender, moist, and super flavorful. The tostones came with two sauces and we all shared and enjoyed. The chicken and dumplings were served in a giant bowl and seasoned well. The potato salad was a unique flavor that clearly had a little Dominican flare.
I cannot wait to go back in Sunday to try the breakfast! Robert and his family clearly are doing everything right because this food was amazing. Robert also waited on us and we had a great chat with him about the restaurant and the food. Definitely an easy 5 star...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice little home cooking spot with a hint of spice and everything nice. I tried the chicken and waffles. I added pecans to the waffle. The combo comes with two eggs. The chicken was seasoned well. It was really good, I didn't know what to expect because they used breadcrumbs instead of flour for batter. It's a chicken breast that is tenderized and covered in breadcrumbs, then fried. I like that they added two eggs in the combo because it adds more protein to help with the waffle. Its alot of food and it's seasoned very well. My friend ordered the Cuban sandwich, and it looked soooo good. Someone suggested this place for the shrimp and grits, but we were not ready for that today. We went around 10 am or 10:30 am. They had specials like : meatloaf with sides, stir-fry with side, hamburger steak, and more. They have a big variety of food dishes. I gave two stars for service because our waitress was missing in action. We had to ask the waiters to tell our waitress to come help us. Our service was bad, but considering how the other waiters were helping and checking on their areas showed that this was the work culture of the restaurant staff. It was just her. I like the location and people of all colors were eating there. They do have a bar, and they do service drinks. One to add to the list of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really wanted to like this place, but my hopes were dashed. I know this is a new restaurant, but they need a lot of work.
Upon arriving at the restaurant there was zero organization. Anyone can sit anywhere they wanted and they had no idea who was recently seated and who had been sitting waiting for over 30 minutes to be attended. Orders were taken from people who had just walked in the door over people who have been sitting waiting for the waiters or waitresses for over 30 minutes.
After waiting at our table for 45 minutes our waiter finally came to take our orders. When we received our food, my husbands order came back wrong, my order is missing food from what I ordered, my son who ordered Chicken and waffles; the chicken looks like it was frozen chicken tenders bought from a grocery store that had been fried way too long.
Sadly the food was nothing to rave about. I genuinely wanted to like this restaurant, but that there is much that needs to be worked out and improve...
