I have been going to the Goodwill in Standale since it opened. I enjoy going there. The managers are very nice and knowledgeable. The workers are very nice and willing to help. Many a time I have asked what they think of a shirt, skirt, and even pictures for my walls. A few days ago I was there shopping and found a very nice tray with a bird on it. I was done shopping. I was towards the back of the store and the young lady that was on register was handed up front from the back . I told her I was ready to check out and she said she would met me at the register. She walked up to her register a little faster than me. As I was going up to the register a lady walked in the door and quickly to the register. I was a few steps from her with the cart in front of me. The young lady at the register politely explained to her that I was next in line. The lady in a not so friendly voice said she was there first. Then she wanted to know how the register worker know I was next. Before the worker could explain that she and I walked from that back to the front after me saying I was ready to go to check me out, the lady forcefully stated that she wanted to talk to a Manger. Myself and the worker both said to her that the worker would be happy to help her. I explained to the lady that I had plenty of time and she could go ahead. I had one thing so I didn't mind waiting. The worker started to help her and the lady said no and she wanted the manager and she could help me. The worker called for the manager and checked me out. It took maybe 2 minutes to check me out. I am sorry that I did not stay to tell my side of what happened. I shop many Goodwill stores all over Michigan and still my GO TO STORE is the Goodwill...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am a stay at home mother of 2 young children. I was shopping at this Goodwill location today, while my 2 year old and 4 year old followed me through the store on two ride-on toys. I've seen many customers who've had children do the same, in multiple locations. I don't recall seeing any signs near the toy area stating rules against children trying the ride-on toys, or any safety protocol signs. I was approached by a male worker, with a dissatisfied look on his face, and he told me children are not to ride the toys. Risking my shopping being cut short, I told my children to dismount the toys and hoped they wouldn't be upset. A volunteer who had overheard the conversation told me she didn't think it was an issue because my children were being respectful while riding the toys. After some more time browsing, I was approached again by the same male worker and, I assume, a coworker in a leading position. I was again told children are not to ride the toys. I explained the volunteer said it wasn't a big deal, to which the female worker responded it was against their safety protocol. My children were upset and I left without my items. My shopping trip was ruined.
I don't think I will be shopping at goodwill anymore. At least not this location. I felt embarrassed and harassed. I feel like stay at home mother's are probably some of the biggest contributors to Goodwill, whether it be donating or shopping. I was really disappointed with my experience today. I didn't feel like a welcomed customer, I felt like a nuisance. I don't feel like Goodwill supports Mothers.
Sincerely, A...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTerrible customer service and unwilling to accept responsibility. We have been dealing with bedbugs for over a week after thrifting a chair from this location earlier this month. When I called the store, the employees basically brushed me off and while the automated message they will reply with after I post this ensures that they ācheck for bed bugs,ā there is no way that is true considering what weāve experienced. The employees were supposed to pass my message along to the district manager but when I called her, the staff had failed to do so. My roommate has broken out in hives from the bites and all of has have dealt with the emotional and mental strain from this. Our house is still torn apart and we were doing laundry for days. I spoke with the district manager but because they are a non-profit and bed bugs is such a problem here in Michigan, they are unwilling to compensate us for even the fumigation expenses. Non-profit or not this is a terrible business practice not to mention just knowing how to treat people overall. I have photos to prove what happened because based on the way the chair looked, the bugs were absolutely residing in there before the chair was brought into my home. I will NEVER step foot in any Goodwill store again and will tell everyone I know to do the same. Just another business looking to make money with no concern for who they harm in...
