I want to start this by saying that i am not the type of person who believes the customer is ALWAYS right. However, I do believe that if you have a faithful loyal and paying customer, you fulfill your employment responsibilities to the best of your capability. That being in customer service, it is your responsibility to greet, treat, and serve them with dignity and respect. That is your job being as though you are in customer service...
Thinking logically, everybody on this earth can and will no doubably have had or will have bad day(s). I totally understand. And it is not nor ever will be my place to judge anyone for that fact. Seriously! Fact, I normally feel and/show sympathy and compassion.
Now, back to my point, my boyfriend and I were shopping at this location. We were as far as you can be from the registers when they asked that we continue to front to purchase items because they are closing. So my boyfriend walks a little slower due to bad knee injury from his career in the Army. But he by no means took long enough that we deserved the treatment or disrespect that we received. We went to the registers where the cashier was extremely rude and tried to tell us that we were no longer allowed to purchase our items. When asking her why she (by rude, i mean even cused at us) and said because you just cant! I asked for her name and to see a manager, she became even more rude, refused to tell her name and walked away. When walking toward doors, we find a manager ourselves. The manager tells us that she would ring us up but acted like the employee had the right to speak to us the way she did.
A couple of days went by, and we went back there to buy milk. When we headed down an isle, I ran into "manager" again. The end of the isles there was blocked for floor waxing. I asked if we would be able to purchase milk, and she said, "Guess you're going to have to walk and find a way through if you can.
Wow!
I will take my money somewhere else. Thank you!
Sorry, I assumed you would fulfill your requirements being as it is your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I have been going to the standale Meijer regularly for almost 10 years now, we can get most of our shopping done and it's just a typical shopping experience. Unfortunately lately we've been getting stopped frequently by a specific older woman who greets at the doors and checks receipts. My husband and I are both managers for large companies and understand why stores have people at the doors, we're very thankful for the greeters and for their job in making sure everyone is paying for their items and coming in and out happily and safely. The problem is, that my husband and I have gotten stopped 3 different times by this woman at the front doors, we are kind and understanding to her but she stops us every time we're walking out with our payed groceries, and it isn't an issue if there's suspicious activity with people, but we are only going about our day in the store, we always have our receipt ready now for this woman because we know we will be questioned, I also want to note that before we get stopped, she first blocks the front entry way, stares us down and doesn't even pay attention to the other customers who could also have their receipts checked. We kindly confronted her out of curiosity why we were always stopped, and she said it's her job, like I said I completely understand the purpose and are more than happy to follow her protocols and let her do her job, but I do not appreciate the dread of going to Meijer because of her and being stopped for her to look at our receipt and groceries. Normally these instances occur after 7, so anyone reading this, have your receipt out just in case you're stopped. And if a manager in Meijer sees this and knows who I'm speaking about, please ask her to prioritize the people doing suspicious activity and treat the regulars kindly and respectfully, let us have a pleasant experience please without her hovering over us every time we leave...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI generally like Meijer as a store, but the Standale location has been a constant letdown every time Iāve given it another chance. This isnāt just about one bad visitāitās been an ongoing pattern of frustration that has made me decide to shop elsewhere.
First, the store layout feels chaotic and unkempt. On multiple visits, Iāve found shelves messy, with products misplaced or simply missing from their usual spots. Basic staples like bread, milk, or produce are often low in stock or completely out, even during normal shopping hours. The produce section, in particular, is hit or missāsometimes itās fine, but too often Iāve seen wilted lettuce, bruised fruit, or expired items still on the shelves.
Customer service is another huge issue. Staff members are difficult to locate, and when you finally do find someone, they often seem rushed, distracted, or uninterested in helping. On one occasion, I asked about a product I couldnāt find, and the employee just pointed in a vague direction without even walking over to check. Thatās not the kind of service that makes you want to come back.
The checkout experience is equally frustrating. Self-checkout machines are frequently down or glitching, and the regular lanes are often understaffed, leading to long waits even when the store isnāt busy. Iāve stood in line watching several registers remain closed while customers pile up, which makes no sense for a store of this size.
What really seals the deal is that these issues arenāt isolatedāthey happen over and over again. Itās clear that either management isnāt aware of the problems or they simply arenāt addressing them. Shopping here feels like more of a chore than it should, and with so many other grocery options nearby, thereās no reason to keep dealing with the same headaches.
I hate leaving such a negative review, but the Meijer in Standale needs serious improvement before Iād...
