On Saturday May 17th, 2025- My friends and I called ahead to see if they could accommodate us- a party of 9 and they said that they would, no problem, and would likely be a 10-15 minute wait. As we showed up, the staff was immediately very rude to us, looking at us as an inconvenience, telling us to move out of the doorway. We asked where we should stand as there weren’t many places to wait while it was pouring rain outside. They asked us to stand in the middle of the restaurant— where other staff members were bumping into us and asking us to move, again. We tried our best to make ourselves scarce and not get in anyone’s way while we waited to be seated. They had booths open that we told them we were more than comfortable taking and squeezing into; The staff told us that we wouldn’t fit into a large booth, which we found rude and also entirely wrong as there was plenty of room for us to squeeze in. They ended up sitting the group of 7 that was an incomplete party for a while that was scheduled to be ahead of us.
The staff managing the waitlist let us know a plan to put us in the larger booths in the middle of the restaurant, which we were happy with. At no point in our experience did anyone complain, act upset or frustrated, or even approach the staff about waiting for our table beyond letting them know we were happy to squeeze a bit for them to accommodate our party size. We were contemplating leaving as we felt uncomfortable — like we were an inconvenience — when we were approached by a staff member. She said “I feel like Where’s Waldo or something, who has an outside drink?” We were so confused- no one brought in an outside drink or outside food. Our friend pointed out that she was holding a reusable water bottle because they were highly interrogative of us about this. We chose to leave at this point, still not saying anything negative except that the experience we had was crazy.
The inside is drab and dirty, the staff was so unbelievably rude and all we were trying to do was stay out of their way and be patient for the seating. They kicked us out and wasted our time. The owner of the establishment should be ashamed that his staff treated customers so poorly who were just about to spend a good deal of money and provide great business.
Will never return and would highly recommend you avoid this...
Read moreI want to say Thank You to The Peppermill Grill for the great food, service, and genuine care they have given me and my mother while she was still alive, she passed a year ago from Alzheimer's. I've been missing her lots lately and finding comfort here at the Peppermill. I assure you the staff here always go above and beyond for everyone!
The food is amazing. Best omelettes in town in my opinion. The fluffy pancakes are huge! The Belgian waffles And French toast are always hits. Daily soups and specials are delicious!
After two or three visits you become a regular! They make a point of knowing all the regulars names. On Sunday, I watched "Shorty" the hostess, go outside and help one of the regular senior couples in from their car. The husband uses a walker and the wife looks like she's going to need one soon. I see them help this same couple and several others every time they come in! People love it here, young and old!
Then today, a jerk with a bad attitude walked in. Behaved like a jackass the whole time he was here. His waitress was Lu, the owner, she is sweet, fast, attentive and very accommodating! He made a big fuss of complaining about everything from the food to the service after he ate to Michelle, my waitress, loudly at my table. I don't know maybe he thought he'd get his meal free by trying to be obnoxious and intimidating. He thought she was the "manager". When she told him Lu was the owner he got all huffy, said his food was burned, service was terrible, and even said sweet little Olive, the hostess was rude to him! Olive doesn't know the meaning of rude! He cleaned his plate and drank several cups of coffee while behaving rudely. People like that really irk me! Hope he never returns! This is a great little gem in our community. It's always busy, line out the door on weekends, and I see this place full of regulars daily. It's well...
Read moreTLDR: So… We MIGHT be considered regulars at this point 🤣 but this has quickly become our favorite breakfast place since we started coming here in August. I’ve taken pics every visit so far, with the most recent visit being yesterday. The service is great and very hometown-y, the decor is hilarious (especially up at the cash register) and the food is great! (So are the prices!!!!)
The environment/ambience is super hometown diner comfy. We always order coffee in the morning- make sure to ask for hazelnut: it’s the best! They almost always serve the coffee in local business mugs, which is super cute and kitchy.
