Lyons has been around for as long as I can remember but I only recently had a reason to go there and I'm so glad that I did. There aren't a lot of family owned businesses around anymore and it's so refreshing to visit one where they obviously care about the quality of their work and the importance a piece of furniture can have to another family.
I brought them a rocking chair that was built in the 1910s by a family friend for my great grandfather, and it was the most pleasant experience start to finish. We talked a bit about the chair and what we were looking for (it doesn't rock smoothly and we wanted to keep it that way), we looked at a few fabric samples, picked one, and they were off.
It was finished exactly when they said it would be and we couldn't possibly be happier with the result. I wish I had a before picture to show the state it was in - it had been sitting in a damp basement for 30 years. What was returned to us was an absolutely beautiful chair that looks brand new but somehow also shows its age, which is exactly what you want for a storied piece of furniture. Cannot recommend...
Read moreI've passed this shop for years and never had a need to go in. Just this week, I wanted to stop by to inquire about reupholstering my couch- get a sense of time, what fabrics are available and cost. When I entered, the owner?, worker?, don't know because she never introduced herself was standoffish from the beginning. She stood in the doorway to the back room and didn't approach me, which I thought was strange. I explained to her that my dog damaged my couch and she immediately went into chastising me about allowing my dog on the couch - which is not the reason why I came to the shop to begin with. I showed her a picture of the damage, which she barely looked at, and quoted a random high priced number, not knowing the size of the couch or any other, what I would think, are important details. I know the shop has been therefore forever but frankly I don't know why. Needless to say, I'm searching elsewhere for better...
Read moreThis place was absolutely wonderful!! Jim and Patti are incredibly kind and TALENTED!!! Beyond being reasonably priced, upfront, having a million fabrics to choose from and doing incredible work, they are incredibly accommodating. I dropped off my couch in the middle of home renovations and they called me only two weeks later to tell me it was done. While I appreciated the quick service; my house was nowhere near ready to take in another piece of furniture so they covered it and kept it for an extra three weeks for me. They also worked with me around store hours to pick the couch back up. These are wonderful and hardworking people, and I will DEFINITELY be back the next time I need something reupholstered. Absolutely in love with the way it turned out and we are so happy to have found a local small business with such a great staff. Thank you...
