1st visit: mis-identified problem, tried to wire around it on exterior unit, gone in 12 minutes, charged $75.
2nd visit: misidentified problem again, tried to wire around it on interior unit, gone in 14 minutes.
I did two basic internet searches and found the problem is very common and easily recognized by air conditioning technicians with any experience. I sent him what I found, and left him a voicemail stating my displeasure with his lack of knowledge, and advice to buy a part I didn't necessarily need, since he didn't know the failure mechanisms for the problem.
3rd visit: I never requested any other service, but when I was gone at work, he must have realized his mistake. He replaced a temperature sensor on my exterior unit and switched wiring again, then texted me, saying he tested the outside sensor and it was working fine so I was wrong and shouldn't worry. (a lie since he replaced the sensor/wiring.)
Matt's lack of job knowledge and especially his lack of integrity is really disappointing, and my system doesn't work, so I will find someone else to fix it.
The problem is the system is stuck in defrost mode, since the heat pump fan is shut off and the heating elements in the furnace are turned on, just as the logic board should command if it's in defrost mode. There are tests to run to ID...

He was able to get it fixed in literally no time at all and even showed me how to work the system since I had no clue how to even find the filter on it. I called Matt and he came out looked at it Monday morning and decided that due to the age of my furnace and the cost of the parts it would be better to replace it. Matt immediately got on it, got a replacement for me and got it installed very quickly.
