Let me preface by saying that given the reviews in here and other socials, I came here somewhat reluctantly (it was a Mother’s Day gift from my out of town daughter). However, my daughter is very picky (as am I) and I must say I have been very pleasantly surprised. Sit back/relax and enjoy the book I’m about to write. After spending 4 hrs at this place I do not understand the bad reviews. Like everything, there is some room for improvement, but honestly, at this point I’m just being extra picky so they could be truly flawless. Let’s start with the drive/parking- in the DMV area this is the first question. I used my GPS and entered “the watergate hotel- had zero issues. They have valet service and the guys are super polite. Everyone keeps reminding you to get that validation for the discounted rate. $12 🅿️ . Worth it. Old school doorman that actually opened doors and did the thing ✔️ Sleek/modern interior design at hotel lobby- ✔️ Concierge that gave clear directions and didn’t seem like I was bothering him ✔️ (you need to go to elevators and press B3 on the keypad BEFORE you get in the elevator). Polite/attentive/prompt receptionists at the Spa✔️ Minimalist but immaculate reception area ✔️ The relaxing room chairs are so comfy I fell sleep! If they had issued me a blanket I would’ve been knocked out for the count! There is a cart w different types of tea/ infused water and snacks (they are nut based so if you have an allergy bring your own or ask) My services both included a glass of champagne at the end. I saw others with cold water bottles given to them. Either way, ✔️ The entire area was immaculate clean. I was one of the first clients of the day but by the time my second service was coming it was almost standing room (that lasted a couple of mins only hence no stars were deducted). The relaxation room is unisex so keep that in mind if you’re sensitive to that. I am not. I had two services with time to relax in between/before/after. My first was a facial with Anna. She came in on time- and explained ahead of time what was included and my options for additional services “if she thought I needed based on her evaluation” wow… I’ve had facials in many places/countries. She is THE BEST. I will be coming back and sending my husband. She is merciless tho. If you have never had a deep extraction, take an ibuprofen 20mins before and BREATHE… the pain is worth it. It’s a mechanical extraction not manual. I may or may not have teared up. But my skin. 💯 Glass. FYI- I will be 50 in a couple of months and have never had procedures or Botox or any kind of fillers. Not against it. Just not my journey right now. After relaxing while sipping champagne I walked around and grabbed an apple at the gym. Went to the sauna/jacuzzi and pool. Then it was time for my massage. I had a signature massage and Yemi took great care of me. She explained what my service included (low to medium pressure) and what other services I could upgrade to (deep tissue/scalp treatment/foot scrub/hot stone/cbd oil) yup, I got them all. Things to note: she used the stones all over my body and not just my back. The scalp treatment she recommends leaving it on for 24hrs before washing out so keep that in mind. Overall is a 10/10. Idk what experiences others had, but it certainly was not mine. Specially as I sit here sipping on champagne while writing this review because I couldn’t wait for you guys to know! Insider tip: bring a bathing suit and your workout gear. Schedule your services in between using all the other amenities. Make a day of it. You won’t regret it. What could make it even better? Trashcans in the girls toilets. No one wants to walk out worth their personal hygiene items in hand. Also bigger trashcans in the locker room area. For my curly haired girls. Bring your diffuser as I didn’t see one and there is only one hairdryer so if it’s busy that might be an issue. I would’ve loved a shelf in my locker or more hangers/way to hang my clothes. Thank you for a great start to my Mother’s Day weekend!

I can say I will never come here again after my experience today. They advertise they open at 10, so my appointment was at 11. I attempted to call numerous times (about 5) the previous days to ask if I could come before to use the pool and relaxation areas yet no one picked up. Upon entering the spa at around 10:20 there was a sign that stated "Spa is closed for the day." Baffled, I called the front desk and asked what was going on because they had already 1) charged my card and 2) called me yesterday and left me a VM confirming my appointment. I called the front desk who sent up a security individual. I would like to preface this by saying the security individual was lovely. She saw me and said she was sent up here to speak to a guest and I explained her the situation and she said that someone from the front desk should have come up, not her and that this was odd. So we went downstairs, for her to take me back up to the spa and told me that they do not come in until 10:40 to pick up their keys, when online it says the spa opens at 10:00. She said I could hang around in the pool area until my appointment and someone would get me. It is now after 11:00 and I am fully clothed in my sneakers in the indoor pool area. There are no towels, and no one told me where the locker room was. Around 11:05 -- past my appointment time a woman came and asked me who I was and said I can come for my appointment. She took me to the locker room- no tour of the spa-- which was a red flag- no offer of a drink/or water/or tea. She gave me a locker and then gave me a robe. I have been to numerous spas and have never had such an odd and awful experience where they do not show you the facilities or give you some water. I was then told to wait in the relaxation room after I changed, and I was in there for 30 seconds before a man came to get me for my appointment. He tried to upsell me CBD oil and other additions to my massage and attempted to tell me I booked a Swedish massage and he was going to be using those techniques , when I said I booked a traditional and is that included in the one I booked, as if he was going to add on the addition of the Swedish part, but I had read other reviews where they charge you for a different massage and I said just the traditional. So Another red flag. The massage was not worth the 20% tip they automatically added to my bill. Upon completing the massage I went to checkout the pool and hot tub and it looks like it has not been properly cleaned in years. Attached photos. Also, the amount of the massage is a different price than they charged me. I have both receipts, not including the tip and the price they charged me for the massage and the booking price are different. I have photos of both transactions and will be calling- but we will see if anyone picks up. Do not go- this review is a warning for everyone who thinks they will have a relaxing spa day- it's nor worth it- go somewhere else.

After doing some research, I found that this was the best massage in DC that came with access to amenities. I still agree with this. We booked a couples massage and were able to use the hot tub, pool, sauna, steam room and relaxation room both before and after our service. The steam rooms are the only things that are in separate locker rooms. The men’s steam room was broken and the women’s steam room smelled a little like mildew. The hot tub and pool were our favorite part. The relaxation room was comfortable with a few snacks, tea, water and a glass of champagne after the service. The pool is open to the hotel guests which was a little unfortunate because kids are allowed to be in there. Overall, we enjoyed our experience but it was definitely an expensive treat.

BEWARE: I attempted to share my review with the establishment first but received multiple “sender blocked” emails from the contact email listed on their page.

During our visit to Argentta Spa on Sunday, February 25, we were looking forward to a relaxing and rejuvenating “luxury” experience. This was a birthday excursion for my friend and I was very excited to curate an experience. However, I regret to inform you that our visit did not meet our expectations nor did it meet your promises as documented on your website. There were several aspects of our experience that fell short of the level of service I anticipated from your establishment.

Firstly, the cleanliness and hygiene standards at the spa were not up to par. I noticed a lack of attention to detail in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in the lounge and men’s locker room, which is essential for a spa setting. Specifically, the floors were wet and sticky leading into the bathroom area and throughout it. This made us feel uncomfortable and compromised the overall experience. The locker room was so small that you could barely change or move around. Us and 3 other patrons had to jump over the benches and stand in wait to get get our things on such tight spaces. And because multiple lockers in the men’s locker room were broken, it felt like a terrible game of musical chairs trying to move out of each other’s way to find and secure an available and operating locker.

The “lounge” was surprisingly underwhelming and felt more like a seating area in a gloomy clinic. The lounge chairs were placed so close together and had stains covering many of the chairs. And because the robes provided had tears and were so small, we felt very uncomfortable trying to sit due to the fear of exposing myself to other guests or staff. So we both sat at the edge of our seats the entire time. One would anticipate that this area would provide leisure and comfort for enjoyment and to decompress, yet in reality it felt cold, sterile, and cheap.

The steam room was a major factor in my decision to patron the spa. Unfortunately, there was much confusion on whether it was broken. Beginning our spa experience, we were informed that the male steam room worked, but as we walked to utilize it, signage on its door and floor informed guest that it was out of service. Confused on what to believe, we opened the door to inspect only to discover exposed wire inside. This debacle further added to my frustration.

Lastly, the therapists who provided our treatments seemed inexperienced. Their approach was lazy and rushed, and we did not feel that our needs and preferences were taken into consideration. As a result, we did not feel the relaxation and rejuvenation that I usually associate with a visit to a spa and instead, we found ourselves counting down the minutes for the massage to end. The session felt more like an expensive run or “lather” than a true massage.

Spending $800 at this facility felt less like luxury and more like gambling at a poorly operated, rigged casino as I walked away with less money and even more tension in my neck— the latter of which I had hoped the massage would have taken care of.

The only positive is that the receptionist was very understanding and accommodating. She heard some of our concerns, expressed empathy, and provided a free day pass. While this gesture was thoughtful and appreciated, this experience was not worth the return.

I believe it is important to provide feedback when experiences do not meet expectations, as it allows for improvements to be made. I trust that you value customer feedback and strive to maintain the high standards in a highly...

ADDENDUM: The new spa manager (Stacy) made a concerted effort to reach out and resolve the situation discussed below. So my gf and I made a follow-up visit and had a great experience. She had a facial and I had a massage with Edward, who was excellent.

Assuming that the spa is focused on the overall client experience, then I would definitely recommend it as both the facilities and the spa personnel are top notch.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

As much as I hate to post a negative review, at this point it’s well deserved.

A week and a half ago, my gf and I went to the spa for a couple’s massage. The spa itself is fairly nice as it’s been recently renovated in shades of gray. The massage was also very good – April and Alex did an excellent job.

Problems arose however when I attempted to retrieve my locker items. The lockers are electronically keyed and mine would not respond (I know I keyed in the correct code b/c it made an unlocking sound, but wouldn’t open).

I explained the situation to the spa attendant who said the lockers sometimes jammed and he would attempt to open it. Unfortunately, he was unable to open so he called maintenance.

In the meantime, I wandered around the spa in my bathrobe, hoping to find my gf so that I could tell her the situation. And I waited.

After about 15 minutes, she became worried and started calling and texting me. Of course, my phone was still stuck in the locker, so I couldn’t respond. Eventually, after about 20 minutes of searching, we were able to connect. So we both waited.

Finally, after about 25 minutes of standing around in my bathrobe, the maintenance guy arrived and popped open the locker.

The attendant was able to do nothing more than mutter “really sorry about that” so I asked to speak to the manager. He explained that she was out, took down my name, number and e-mail address and indicated that the manager would reach out to me on Monday.

I heard nothing on Monday. Or Tuesday. So at cob Tuesday, I called the spa and ended up getting the hotel front desk. I explained that I was trying to reach the spa manager and they attempted (unsuccessfully) to connect me. Finally, after four phone calls I reached the same spa attendant who was on duty Saturday and he explained that the manager would contact me on Wednesday.

You see where this Is heading. Nothing on Wednesday. Or Thursday. On Friday, I got a brief vm from the manager (I was traveling) and she indicated that she would try to reach me over the Labor Day weekend.

Unsurprisingly, no attempt to reach me was made over the weekend. And it’s now midday on the following Tuesday – a week and a half after the incident – and I still have not heard anything beyond the one brief, non-substantive vm. No e-mails, no call back number, only the brief vm.

This kind of response would be very problematic in a low end spa, but it’s really incomprehensible in a spa that advertises (and charges) as a high end spa. Complete indifference/apathy to their clients and -- alas -- a very well...
