UPDATE: There was a change in management with the valet company at the time when my car was damaged, with the previous manager stating that it was already taken care of (which it obviously was not). Chris Murren (the new manager) contacted me, and we were able to put in the paperwork for the claim, which will process in about 4 to 6 business days. He was extremely helpful and apologetic for how the situation was handled initially. : We stayed at the Melrose Georgetown from 6/9/22 to 6/12/22 in a Deluxe King room. Location is GREAT! It is walking distance to the National Mall, the White House, downtown Georgetown, as well as other restaurants and attractions. It is close to the GWU-Foggy Bottom metro as well! Our room was not ready until check-in time (completely understandable!), but the room that we were initially given was not cleaned from the previous guests (garbage on the floor, used towels and hand soap…). I went to the front desk, and they remedied it immediately with a new room. The staff at the front desk were always friendly and helpful! The lobby area is what gives this hotel its 4 stars, but the rooms are outdated and unimpressive. There was dust covering every hard surface (a quick dusting would have changed that), only one hook in the bathroom on the back of the door to hang any used towel, crooked bathroom lighting fixtures and mirror, one-ply toilet paper, as well as no bathrobes or slippers (even though they are mentioned on their website). The Fiji bottle water available in the room was also an additional $6 if you decided to drink it. The bed, however, was SUPER comfortable. This is NOT the place for you if you like firm mattresses! The water pressure and heat in the shower was also great! Housekeeping is done every other day (I would recommend putting out the “request service” sign on your door as I heard several guests complain that their rooms were not serviced for several days.). On our last day, I requested my car from the valet ($50 a night!) using the QR code on my ticket (waste of time!), which after an hour of waiting, we just went to the front desk. My personal car came back with some damage on the driver side back passenger door (not a dent but a scrape that removed paint). We did not request my car from the valet at any point of our trip until we were leaving, as we just walked everywhere and used the metro. I reported it immediately to the front desk. The front desk manager (I believe his name was Jake) took all of my information (insurance, driver’s license, picture of the damage…) and told me he would be in touch with a claim number once the valet parking manager arrived for the day. It has now been over a week, and I have yet to obtain a claim number. I have contacted the hotel on several occasions since then and am always told that they would forward my message to a manager who would then reach out, confirming my cell phone number. I will continue to reach out, but beware of the valet if you have your personal vehicle! We would most likely not stay here again because of this as well as the outdated rooms not being worth the price paid. It was our first time staying at a 4-star hotel (as a surprise for our anniversary), and I am...
Read moreHad a terrible terrible experience while staying here. Me and my colleague booked a room for two people and checked in early Friday morning 11/22/2024 in room 508. We did early check in and paid 50$ extra fees and got two sets of keys. We left our luggage’s in hurry to join a conference which was in another hotel. I came back late around 8pm and tried to go into my room and the key wasn’t working. I got confused and asked the front desk that the key wasn’t working which got me confused about the room number as well. Not that we checked in early and left in a hurry and after a full day of conference it slipped my mind. The African American lady at the front desk wasn’t helping rather asking random questions about whether I have an id or I need to call my colleague (or he has an id) otherwise she can’t help, although we did all the formalities to check in earlier. She started indirectly implying that I am an intruder. I handed over the key to her to reconfigure it. I didn’t want to call my colleague as he was in a reception meeting with others. Not only the incompetent lady showed disrespectful attitude but also left me in a state of panic. I had to call my colleague and finally got in. It turned out the room number was correct and the key I had wasn’t working. The lady even kept my card and didn’t hand it over when I asked to get it back, implying “let’s see how you get in”. I don’t know how she is working there . Total a incompetent staff. After I got in I came back downstairs with my colleagues key. The lady offered no apology rather started glaring me as if still I am an intruder to her. Melrose hotel please train your employees so that they learn how to resolve situations. Your staff don’t know how to talk to guests. They don’t even have basic manners. Totally unacceptable. That lady needs to be put on probation and receive some sorts of training. Would have given 0 star rating if I could. People please stay away from this hotel if dont want to feel disrespected.
*Update: You mentioning me as Ms. whereas my pronoun should be Mr. is another sloppy move on your part. Besides I have many questions :
We did all the formalities while checking in. Why we need to do it again and again? I informed your front desk staff my colleague name and room number. Why didn't she hand me back the key that was given to me after all the procedures during checkin ? Why was she asking my colleagues id ? Couldnt she take a look at the registered information ? Why was she so judgemental? Why you keep defending your employees inability to resolve the situation ? Why didnt she offer any apology ?
I havent even mentioned the room yet. The room was stinking with bad odor and there was a air purifier which was barely covering the smell. The air vents are filled with dust and this is a complete health hazard. On top of that no matter how well your other stuff behaved one horrible behavior is enough to ruin anyones experience. Stop covering for your faults and admit. That is the first...
