We recently stayed at Sonder Georgetown, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. The most distressing issue was the presence of mice in our room late at night, which is clearly unacceptable in any accommodation. Now reading the reviews more carefully, we saw that infestation situations were mentioned before and they are clearly not addressed properly. When we reached out to Sonder's chat service for assistance, we encountered a series of miscommunications. They started by asking if we have a video proof. I was busy calming down my kids, so sorry, I did not record mice in my room. We were told that there were no available rooms in our building, despite the app showing availability. The next morning, we were informed that nothing was available for one person, which was confusing since we had rented a one-bedroom unit, without limiting to a # of people. After another hour later, after pointing to the app availability, a room was suddenly made available to us. Further adding to our frustration was the conflicting information provided by the staff. While the chat representative assured us we could move to the new room at any time, a staff member in the lobby limited us to a four-hour window, but promised that we wouldn't be locked out of our old room. However, upon our return, we found the lobby deserted and received no response from the chat service. We were fortunate to find someone with a master key, or else we would have been stranded. This entire ordeal took place over the Thanksgiving weekend, significantly detracting from our holiday plans. Rather than enjoying time with family, we were forced to spend hours addressing these issues with Sonder. Adding to our disappointment, we requested a callback from a manager and were told to expect a response within 24-48 hours. It's been five days, and we have yet to hear back. The rooms are dusty, dirty, with peeling paint on the walls and piles of dirt in the corners. The only great about this place is the location. We have been loyal to Sonder, but I doubt we will stay again.

Sonder did it again! We always love our stays at Sonders and this stay reinforced our good impression of the brand. It is the perfect balance between a hotel and Airbnb. We love the convenience of self check-in and check-out and using our phone to get into the room. You get so much more space than a hotel room and for half the price. We had room 613, which had a whole wall of gorgeous angled windows that made you feel like you're in the top of a building in Paris. We selected this room type for the terrace, and it was a huge terrace with awesome views over Georgetown. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious, including a large kitchenette, modern bathroom with 2 sinks and nice toiletries, and a small table for eating. Awesome location in Georgetown with restaurants, shops, bars, etc. just steps away. We parked in a public parking garage about a 5 minute walk away. A few cons: -The main problem is that there is no soundproofing whatsoever and everything happening in the hallway sounds as if it's at the foot of your bed. The housekeeping staff was extremely loud - they kept their cart right outside our door and were calling loudly to each other in different rooms, slamming doors, and banging around. -No ice. The kitchenette just has a mini fridge with no ice and there is no ice available in the lobby either. -The terrace for room #613 is not private at all because it's shared with another room. They should put up some kind of divider. I could see directly into the other room when we were on the terrace, which is awkward.

I had a profoundly unpleasant experience at this location. My first warning flags went up when I took me 40 minutes to check in. The staff at the hotel did their best to assist, but I also needed to coordinate with Sonders chat and call support, along with hotels.coms support. As the booking was made for a former employee who no longer had access to their work email, the Sonder staff on chat were seemingly unable or unwilling to make the adjustment. The troubles compounded when I got access to the room. The room reeked of day old bacon grease, and there was a dirty knife on the mirror in the entrance way. There were scuffs all around the wall and a blatant empty socket in the middle of the bedroom wall. The AC rattled constantly during my stay, and when I connected with Sonders support again, they sent the rep who was on site (who was doing their best) to investigate. They dropped off two ac fans (but didn’t resolve the rattling), and also didn’t provide any extra body wash (as I also mentioned to the chat rep that the bottle was rear empty on my arrival). The entire establishment felt slapdash and I cannot suggest anyone stay here - I was only thankfully there for a few nights. The Georgetown location is handy, but not worth it with the other frustrations. I was also shocked to see how much they charged for cleaning and replacing towels, given how unclean the room felt on arrival.

Excellent app and email instructions, ensuring a seamless experience.

Effortless luggage storage.

ROOM: The space is impeccably clean and well-furnished, with a fully equipped kitchen stocked with essentials and provided dishwasher tablets. I had a big window (not scenic) but i have a great amount of natural light coming in) The lights are ..idk..weird...had to turn on so many (orange) lights cz im blind lol.

LAUNDRY: I didn't ask if they provide laundry pods. I just bought my own. So please ask on the app. Laundry area is great. I mean..just do your laundry and go.

The customer service is outstanding, and proactive notifications about maintenance visits between 10 am to 5 pm enhance communication.

MAINTENANCE: I was in when the guy was doing his maintenance work. He asked me if everything is ok ...anything needs to be fixed. I told him about the bathroom sink pipe, he fixed it. EASY.

NOISE: What noise? Im dead asleep 100% of the time. In the morning there's always some maintenance at the road or something i dnt knw...it's great cz it's my morning alarm. Lol.

Ideal for introverts or those with social anxiety, as everything can be managed through the app without the need for face-to-face interactions.

FIRE ALARM: One day, the fire alarm sounded, prompting a prompt and well-executed apology email. While it didn't personally bother me coz i was out, the second occurrence happened in the early morning, albeit briefly.

PARKING: Sonder recommends a nearby parking garage (The Foundry), and public parking is available around the building's perimeters.

TV: I just use netflix. Easy.

ROOM SERVICE: Never request cleaning. Im out most of the time. Keep my own room clean. (Except for the last day i had to leave the leftover pizza in the sink as i had to leave at 4am) - Sorry

DINING: Explore great dining options at various price ranges (some open 24/7). CVS is just a short walk away. I prefer walking everywhere in Georgetown. Visiting during Christmas and New Year's allowed me to experience Georgetown Glow. Washington Harbor is conveniently located just down the road.

FOOD DELIVERY: Doordash your food to your doorstep, or pickup at the lobby. Provider Dasher with clear and easy instructions to follow (just copy from the sonder app and edit it where needed)

Easy to get to VA and MD by Uber/Lyft.

METRO: Nearest station - Foggy Bottom, 10-15 mins walk away I didnt take any public transport...

I had a terrible experience with booking on Sonder! They did not allow me to change the reservation anytime past 24 hours after booking, despite my being a repeat customer who was ready to commit to monthly stays in the future (five-digit spend) and their having a clear typo that was really misleading on their cancellation policy. They shared I could cancel - ""up to %{min_days_before_checkin} days before check-in" and I hadn't realize that was only 24 hours after booking! See my note to them below. Super disappointing.||---|Hi Sonder Georgetown C&O Team,|I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out regarding a recent booking I made at your hotel for April 1 - April 5. Due to a miscommunication in the booking confirmation email, which mentioned an unclear policy on date modifications, I am seeking your help to change my reservation to April 15 - 19. I had called earlier to speak to a representative earlier this week (5 days before checkin) and they mentioned a team member would call me back to follow up and I have not yet heard back.||Despite the email stating (as you can see below and in earlier notes you shared) that changes could be made "up to %{min_days_before_checkin} days before check-in," it's unclear how this applies, given the apparent typo. As a repeat customer who has spent approximately $2,400 at your property with two week long visits and plans to continue regular visits each month, I was surprised by this rigidity, especially since I am willing to upgrade to a larger room (king suite) for an additional $300.||I value our ongoing relationship and believe this change won't just benefit me but also reinforce our mutual interests, considering my future plans to spend around $34,000 annually at your hotel with two one weeks stays per month. I have been so dismayed at the customer service experience, that without help with this change I will certainly take my business elsewhere resulting in $34K loss per year for Sonder - which truly would be a lose-lose.||I kindly ask for your assistance in this matter and look forward to a resolution that maintains the high regard I have for Sonder, Georgetown C&O.||Thank you for your attention to this...
