St Stephen-Martyr Church — Attraction in Washington

This has to be one of the most welcoming churches I have been to when on vacation. Not only were we greeted in a very joyful way by the Monsignor when we entered the chapel, but afterwards, we joined them for coffee and light fare in the basement. Two different easy-going, and easy to chat with parishioners, Robert and Jackie, made efforts to come to our table and get to know me, my 14 yr old son and 11-year-old daughter. They even gave us advice on tourist attractions, the bus system and food not to miss in the area. We felt right at home. The DC area is fortunate to have such a loving church...

The pastor there four years ago was a jerk. He threatened to oust me for the simple reason that l was drawing during Mass which isn't disruptive to anyone. It was just an impulse l get to draw everywhere l go but I was in no way causing disruption. When l told the guy he couldn't oust me from the church he said indeed he could. Years ago this parish insulted my child - because of this my kids stopped being Catholics / and the experience we received was okay but it came with alot of insults and derogatory treatments .
