I stayed here because it was a 10 minute walk to an embassy that I needed to be at the next morning for a meeting. It had good reviews and the price was the cheapest compared to the surrounding hotels. Since I was just staying 1 night, it was the best choice for me. I had just gotten here from a 10+ hour trip and it was first time navigating how to get there, even sleep deprived it was easy to find. Once you get off the foggy bottom metro, it's about a 3 minute walk there. I didn't explore the area since I had to leave the next day for another flight but from what I saw, it's right by a University so it was nice seeing a bunch of people/students walking around. Staff was very nice and friendly. Jake checked me in, and he was very helpful and seemed happy to assist with any questions/concerns I had. The concierge was so very kind, and opened and closed the door and wished me a good day every time. The room was spacious & extremely clean and the housekeepers were very kind and one even ran after me before I left the room because I forgot something on the desk. There is a Keurig in the room, which mine was a bit broken & I had to keep shutting the lid because it kept opening but once it finally sealed, I made my coffee. I was running late coming back from my meeting before check out so I called to ask for 30 extra minutes of checkout and the receptionist was very kind and gave it to me, but assured me that if I were later, she would charge me. Fair enough. I'm not sure if they have ever served breakfast, but there isn't any breakfast served, instead they have a small sort of convenience store located right inside the hotel...so I bought a cup of yogurt, a chocolate bar to eat later, and a bottled coffee for breakfast, equalling almost $14 in total. Quite ridiculous, but I was too lazy to walk somewhere else to get food, and this was more convenient since I had to run out. I took away a star because the rooms are not soundproof at all. I could hear everyones conversation that walked outside of my room, any one showering or flushing a toilet, using the elevator, etc. If you're looking for a quick place to stay while you're out for the day, this is perfect, but if you're here for a peaceful night of sleeping, this may not be the hotel for you. With saying that, nothing deters me from staying here again. I would recommend this hotel and if I need to come back to D.C. I would pick this...
Read moreAbove all, the staff of Arc Hotel are the shining light. Their warmth and welcome invited us to be at home for our extended stay. I'm very glad to have met them all, and Arc will be our go-to hotel in D.C. whenever we come to visit ♥️
My spouse and I took an extended stay at Arc Hotel after attending a local conference. We found it to be absolutely perfect in terms of location, comfort, and style.
The hotel is a two minute walk to the blue, orange, and silver lines of the metro and approximately twenty minute walk to the National Mall and Lincoln Memorial.
There's a convenience store (7-11) one block away and a Whole Foods about three blocks away on the GWU campus. There are several restaurants like Subway, Roti, and Cava nearby as well. This is wonderful for folks with mobility challenges who may not be able to take extended walks.
We were on the 8th floor of the hotel, and it afforded us a gorgeous view of the Potomac and north western D.C. area. We caught sunset on the day we arrived, and it was breathtaking.
The room, bathroom, and linens were all immaculate, and the soaps they provided were earthy scents rather than perfumed, which we greatly appreciated. The hotel offers light tough service on request to keep an extended stay fresh.
Though there is no room service, the hotel has a small convenience shop that is open 24 hours per day. The snack and amenity selection will cover you in a pinch.
My recommendation for hydrated humans is to skip the $7 Smart Water and stock up on bottled water from elsewhere. Reusable gallons from Whole Foods would be a great idea to be environmentally and long term health conscious!
The gym is small, but good for cardio and some light lifting. More intense gym goers are in luck, though, as there are several gyms nearby that cater to short term guests (I visited Miss D at Balance Gym; great for solo lifting/cardio as well as guided CrossFit classes).
In the room there is a Kuerig style coffee maker and a safe. In our King room, there was a chaise lounge as well. The aesthetic of the room was modern and chic, and there was plenty of space for us to unpack and unwind.
We are grateful to have called Arc home for a week, and we look forward to being...
Read moreWe recently stayed at the ARC Hotel in Washington, DC, and while the location was excellent—just three minutes from the Metro and a short walk to a plethora of dining and shopping options—our experience was less than satisfactory due to several issues. First, the walls are incredibly thin, offering no buffer from outside noises. On our first night, there was a loud party that didn't quiet down until 1:00 AM, disturbing not just us but other guests as well. To make matters worse, the party attendees were smoking heavily, causing our room to fill with cigarette smoke through the old windows. The smoke was so severe that both my 5-year-old son and I became sick, which added to our frustration and inability to get any rest. Although the hotel staff was responsive and moved us to another room at 11:30 PM, the noise and smoke problems persisted.
On the second night, yet another party took place and nice again it was unbearable, making it difficult to sleep through the night. Despite these significant disturbances, there were some positives. The hotel’s front desk receptionist, Michelle, was fantastic—warm, kind, and incredibly helpful. Additionally, the hotel houses a convenient little store that offers a variety of snacks and last-minute essentials. The rooms themselves were clean; however, the persistent smoke issue indicates that recent updates are merely cosmetic, and more substantial improvements are necessary. I would also like to echo what other reviewers have stated, the thermostats do not work and the temperature of the room is controlled building wide, not room to room. Our room was comfortable at times, cold at others and too warm at times and there was no solution offered by the hotel.
Overall, due to the poor soundproofing, smoke intrusion, and continuous street noise, I cannot recommend staying at the ARC Hotel. While the staff is commendable and the location is great, the fundamental issues we experienced significantly impacted our comfort and enjoyment during our stay. For the price, I would move my reservation to...
