With a location that sits 2 blocks from any and EVERYTHING, I just knew I'd hit the lotto upon securing this find!
With square footage that would rival one's home in Texas, this grande maison.......complete with a separate living area, copiously appointed kitchen, a washroom encompassing a rainfall shower head and oversized bedding was seemingly just the escape that I/we needed while traveling some 3,200 miles out to conduct business within our anticipated home away from home.
Customer service was at its finest, but please believe me, fellow readers when I say that this is by far where all of the bliss undeniably curtailed....
From start to finish, what I absolutely despised was being contacted REPEATEDLY prior to even flying out and/or checking in by constantly being bombarded and harassed by random text messages, multiple emails and an overwhelming amount of phone calls - each of which continuously alleging that my "check-in" and/or "registration process" was incomplete due to NOT uploading selfies, driver's licenses, passports, credit card information and multiple other additional forms of confidential information REPEATEDLY by way of some type of 3rd party "allegedly anonymous" never before mentioned portal accessible ONLY via some type of absurd text messaged link.
Let's try asking ourselves: Who the hell wants to travel some 4-6 hours, get through Ubering only to survive TSA pre-check, ridiculously lengthy lines at the airport, coupled by flight delays, the process of baggage claim, taxis and airport shuttles and the list goes on,.....just to be bombarded by no less than 15 messages and missed calls, all collectively in pursuit of crap that can otherwise be provided at the single time of one's check-in???
Make it make sense, guys. Please, for the love of God, make it make darned sense!
It's truly enough enough to give a senior citizen a brain aneurism, all the while simple subtitles such as (oh, I dunno) where the heck to park your frikkin' car and/or even more importantly, if there would be a fee associated with doing so, as well as where to locate amenities like the pool, fitness center or onsite laundry were just as left out as this establishment's ability to provide one a single bottle of filtered H2O!
Is this seriously where we are in life???
The icing on the cake here and it's best those reading truly take note would be that despite this hotel visibly trying to keep up with all of the nearby Joneses within the surrounding vicinity, they are emphatically faking it until they make it!
The establishment; having acquired location within a former residential place of dwelling, is striving while struggling to adapt to the new era all the while epically failing to get it right.
Get this: Should winter arrive early, expect for ALL thermostats within this joint to be manually adjusted to reflect the outside climate and weather increments of the surrounding vicinity. Heaven forbid, there's an unforeseen October heatwave,....as was the case within my stay just days ago.
As opposed to installing mini-splits for each room; something they can CLEARLY afford, OR window units to better enable guests an ability to control and adjust their own temps, 2500 Penn opted to go the cheap route which was simply to "flip the switch."
What this means fellow travelers, is that should temps soar into upwards of 85 degrees, anticipate your room's AC blowing out air that's all of 95 degrees in temperature!
WTF?!
The hotel's suggestion upon contacting me for the millionth time via text message was to, "turn off the AC, open the windows and use the provided fan."
Uhm.....no sh#t, Sherlock!!!
Therein, I suppose the mosquito bites, heat stroke and sweated out linen collectively made for lovely parting gifts. Who needs sleep anyway?
Needless to state that we checked out just as quickly as we checked in. Alas, when in doubt it's best those reading take note that there's hardly a difference between 2500 Penn and a WA DC penitentiary.
At least at the penitentiary, you're guaranteed AC, 3 meals a day and bottled...

I traveled with a family of 4 and a dog and we stayed in a room that had two queens beds, a living room with a sofa bed and kitchenette. It was very accommodating and comfortable. However, the rooms DO NEED a lot renovations, especially the bathroom and kitchenette feel very outdated. You can also tell a lot of the furniture has seen better days.
During the winter, you are provided with a fan because only the heater works which can make you room feel REALLY warm. We were able to open the windows a tiny bit so cool air could come in but if you are sensitive to noise when you sleep, there is A LOT of outside noise.
What really bummed us out about the stay here is the housekeeping. We booked for 10 nights. The first day I asked how housekeeping works and one lady said we can just ask whenever, so on my third day I went to request it and another lady said they only provide it on the 7th day. In the meantime they offered me new towels and bed sheets (which we had to change) and gave me NO indications on what to do with the dirty towels/sheets. I patiently waited for the 7th day to come and when I went to request it, a very kind gentleman asked a THIRD lady if I can have housekeeping and she with a rude tone said "NO". She went on to say that she had to prepare 71 rooms for Georgetown students and she was understaffed. She did not seem accommodating AT ALL and said she could send someone the day before we left, which was POINTLESS. They offered me new bed sheets, which were NEVER delivered. If they don't offer housekeeping, I believe that at check in they should do a better job explaining where to throw your trash, requesting toilet papers, towels, etc. By the end of our stay EVERYTHING was dusty. I just really hope they DEEP CLEAN the rooms whenever a new guest comes in.
Location is good (walking distance to Georgetown and close to a Trader Joes) and the staff is very friendly with exception that one lady that was rude.
I would recommend this place only if you are staying in the area for no more than 2-3 days and don't mind your room being NOT...
Read moreAnyone reading these reviews should be mindful that they include multiple locations! It gave me an impression that was never going to be meant at the 2500 Penn location. We had very limited options for a family of 5 and the reviews presueded us to choose this place. The staff is absolutely amazing! They get a 10 out of 10! I think they are doing the best they can with what they have. The rooms are decent but dated and are in need of some TLC. It was what I expected for the price. What I didn't expect was the overwhelming musty odor. Im shocked looking through the reviews no one has mentioned it. We actually requested a different room and the second room seemed much better at 1st but it didn't take long for the odor return. My guess is they sprayed air freshener prior to us getting in the second room because as the days went by the smell returned. They only do housekeeping once a week. So there is no one to keep things smelling fresh. I believe there outdated AC system is the issue. The hallways were always very warm and the AC in our room never shut off because it can't keep up. It just constantly runs and you can see a lot of dust in the vents. They even have a note in the rooms explaining something about a old two pipe system that has issues on hot days. Not something I wanted to find out after checking in.
Also I wish I had known about the housekeeping. With 5 of us we were asking for 5 towels every day but they dont have enough to keep up. It was implied we may need to use towels more then once because one time we had to wait until the next day to get clean towels due to there limited supply.
Its a great price and location. Maybe the odor isn't there in the colder months but I would think twice about staying here in the warmer months.
Again the staff is killing it. I just think they need to do something about there AC system. With a few upgrades it could be a really nice place for...
