Harbor Freight — Local services in Washington

I recently had a disappointing experience at your store and feel compelled to share my frustration. The manager, a tall, approximately 6-foot Hispanic male with a buzz cut on 12/2/2024 at 4:10 pm was unhelpful and rude during my visit.

I had found a couple of open-box items that were clearly marked at prices above the online sale prices, so I asked the manager what the best deal he could offer would be. Instead of offering any reasonable adjustment, he insisted on a strange and unfair negotiation tactic. He told me that if I didn’t buy one of the items, he wouldn’t reduce the price of the second item, despite it being marked higher than the online price.

It felt like he was trying to force a sale under less-than-fair conditions, rather than trying to help me as a customer. His approach was dismissive, and he made no attempt to accommodate or offer a solution that would make sense for both sides. I’ve shopped at many places and have never been treated this way, especially when it comes to something as straightforward as pricing.

Drove from Mesquite to get a tool needed for an emergency job. Website said it is in stock. So, 110 miles round trip to find the website is inaccurate. They have the display (they said the reason it shows in stock), but won't sell that to me. So I have to drive another 100 miles to Cedar City to get the tool. Bowman, who claimed to be the manager was rude and dismissive, literally said "are we done here" to me. Kaleb was no better. I have been an ITC member for years and shopped here for at least a decade. I purchase hundreds of dollars there every year. I will not be renewing the membership, nor returning to this store. I will probably stop shopping at HF entirely. With their price increases over the past few years, I've found most other retailers are selling the same or better quality for about the same price. The Harbor Freight store in Washington is MUCH larger than the one in Idaho Falls. The Idaho Falls store was out of the battery tenders that I wanted and they had been the last 4 times I was in. I stopped at HF in Washington Utah and I was amazed at the things they had including the heavier battery tenders. I asked where I could find them and the cashier walked me back and showed me right where they were. The store in Washington is two or three times as large as the one in Idaho. I was IMPRESSED!
