(THIS IS A STUDENT REVIEW) This has been my family’s favorite restaurant since I could remember! Though I usually get their two taco plate with ground beef tacos (which by the way is amazing) I had to switch things up since going vegetarian. Though their options for vegetarian dining are slim I was able to find something interesting. They have a special section for vegetarian meals in their menu so it was a nice relief. I had decided to order the vegetarian fajitas. In the meantime our very kind waiter brought us chips with salsa and bean dip. Once my order arrived I noticed an unusual alignment of vegetables including: Cauliflower, Broccoli, Onion, and sliced carrots. Although I found the vegetables as an odd choice for fajitas I carried on. My first impression was that my food was very dry even with the additional guacamole and pico that comes as a side. Though I’m not completely sure; I believe that the corn tortilla in pair with the vegetables is what made it so dry. Overall I enjoyed the taste of my fajita. it gave hints of earthy, hearty tones, as well as vibrant and fresh notes. Overall I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant aside from the dryness of my meal. In my personal recommendation I would skip this item and move onto...
Read moreI'm going to chalk this horrible experience up to lack of help. I get that businesses are suffering because of covidiots, but they need to make certain accommodations to make it work.
It took 20 minutes to get sat and the restaurant wasn't even close to full. After they set our table up, nobody told us we could be seated. We eventually just went and sat down on our own recognizance. The hostess easily could have told us it was time.
It took 15 min to be greeted after we sat.
It took 60 min for our food to come out. The rice was DISGUSTING, it was burnt and tasted like firewood. If this is how it is supposed to taste, then I'm not sure how it's still on the menu. All in all the cuisine was sub par. The food looks good, but I can make mashed potatoes look like ice cream.
Our server was serving 5 other tables with a total of 33 customers. He was discombobulated. He would run to the kitchen for a single refill rather then multitasking. He was touchy and that's a NO for me. You don't need to put your hands on my shoulders.
Like I said, it had to be a lack of help. I can't think of any other excuse as to why everything was horrible.
Never going back and purging Don Pedro Family Mexican restaurant...
Read moreThe atmosphere is nice, not terribly noisy and decent authentic style decor. Our server was fine, not terribly warm but also not neglectful... except when we were ready to pay. I was waiting for at least 20 minutes or more with my card on the table before I realized I'm supposed to pay up front. Our server neglected to mention that fact.
The food was very boring. Salsa was tasty, but completely without any kick. They also brought out beans with the chips and salsa, which were far spicier than the salsa.... almost too spicy to enjoy.
I had the Pollo con Molé Poblano, which was FAR too pricey for the very small amount of actual chicken on the plate. The sauce was also quite bland. Grocery store Molé in a jar is better than theirs. He played came out extremely hot, which makes me wonder if a microwave was involved.
We also ordered fried ice cream, which took less than a minute to come out... most definitely NOT freshly made. The ice cream was hard as a rock, and the batter was cold, stale, and flavorless. Very disappointing.
It's really hard to find a great authentic Mexican place that also has great service (especially as a gringa) in this town. This place is...
