It was my first time staying in DC, and I stayed here for one night on my own before moving to another hotel for work. It was easy booking through a travel site. I'm a manager at another hotel and I know customer service. This hotel had greatbcusotmer service. The front desk agent was very pleasant and made check in very easy. Parking was a little weird as there is a small valet lot but was advised of on street parking. I asked if it was okay to park on the main road adjacent and was advised it was. I got a ticket the next morning during "rush hour." My mistake for not understanding the signs. FYI: Make sure you're parking on the road right in front of the front desk and not the main thoroughfare to the east. They had a complimentary wine social hour but I didn't partake. The hotel was very, very nice. It looked modern was some touches of old art-deco still thrown about (like the elevators). The room was cozy with a nice bed. As a two-pipe HVAC system, it's either hot air or cold air. It was fairly warm in the room when I got there, but with the cold January air, I was able to open the window for relief. A small, quiet hotel was lots of places to eat within a ten-minute walk.

I would give it actually a 2.5. We stayed a week at this hotel. First the good. Check in is at 3 so If you have an early flight and didn’t get a rental they will allow you to take you luggage and hold it for you so you don’t have to lug it around. The morning staff is very friendly! The bad. Evening and night shift staff were never to be seen. So due to Covid and them not coming and cleaning or replacing towels we would have to get them first thing in the morning. The deluxe king room is small. The bed was about 2 foot from the wall on both sides and the foot of the bed was about 4 foot from the wall. The walls are very thin. We could hear the conversations going on the room over. No microwave. The WiFi was very spotty and we had no reception inside the building with Verizon. Our AC unit had a wooden frame build around it with a metal grate on top, I didn’t notice until our second night. Pulled the grate up and the AC was set on Medium and I thought that’s why the room wasn’t cooling. Flipped it to High and that was not the problem. We had to by a fan to redirect the air that wasn’t making it out of the wooden frame.

Would rate this an overall half star if possible. Total zero value for money. Day staff was the most unfriendly lady ever seen at a hotel. Absolutely horrendous. The hallway is so narrow no two people can stand side by side. Room had a very murky smell, mix of heavy mold and wet animals. Walls are very thin and no bedside sockets in my room. AC compartment was broken, see pictures and walls had visible cracks like it’s falling apart. First slept with pillows which were very hard so I slept without any - worst mistake ever - within 5 minutes I was coughing up so badly had to use the pillows again. Turns out underneath bedsheets had leftover pet hairs which I reacted to, i.e. improper cleaning. Windows also thinly glazed so i can imagine how cold room gets in winter. I didn’t pay for breakfast but paid $50 parking for 1 night. Also paid a $75 deposit. Pretty steep charges!!

I had the pleasure of staying at The Normandy Hotel in Washington, DC, during the Labor Day weekend, and it was truly a delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed with the cleanliness, charm, and overall atmosphere of the hotel. While I had seen a few reviews mentioning issues, I can confidently say that my stay was flawless, and The Normandy exceeded my expectations in every way.

Beautiful and Immaculate Hotel First and foremost, the hotel itself is in excellent condition. The rooms and common areas are impeccably clean, which is something I always appreciate. The décor has a classic and elegant style, giving the hotel a charming and boutique feel. I could immediately tell that the management and staff take great care of the property. Everything was well-maintained and in great shape, from the lobby to the room furnishings.

A Quiet Oasis in a Busy City One of the standout features of The Normandy is how quiet and peaceful it is, despite being located in the heart of Washington, DC. I was able to rest comfortably and enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere. Whether it was early in the morning or late at night, the ambiance remained calm and serene, making it the perfect place to unwind after a busy day exploring the city.

Exceptional Staff, Especially Nathan (sorry if I misspelled his name) The staff at The Normandy truly went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. They were welcoming, attentive, and always ready to help with any request or question. I have to give a special shout-out to Nathan, who provided exceptional service throughout my stay. He was always friendly, professional, and eager to ensure that everything was perfect. His warm demeanor made me feel right at home, and his local recommendations were spot on. Nathan truly made my experience at The Normandy memorable.

Great Location The Normandy’s location is another major plus. It’s situated in a quiet neighborhood, yet it’s just a short walk or quick ride away from many of Washington, DC’s major attractions. I found it incredibly convenient for visiting landmarks like the National Mall, Smithsonian museums, and the White House. Additionally, the surrounding area has a number of great restaurants and cafes, so you don’t have to go far to find a good meal. The Dupont Circle area, in particular, is just a stone’s throw away and is filled with vibrant dining and nightlife options.

Highly Recommend Overall, I highly recommend The Normandy Hotel to anyone planning a trip to Washington, DC. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, this hotel offers a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and outstanding service. The combination of its great location, peaceful environment, and dedicated staff, especially Nathan, makes it a standout choice. I will certainly be returning for my next stay in DC!

If you're looking for a clean, quiet, and well-maintained hotel with a team that genuinely cares about your experience, look no further than The Normandy. It made my Labor Day weekend truly special, and I’m confident it will do the...

Recently stayed two nights for an anniversary getaway with my wife, had an amazing time and experience staying at this hotel.

I have to applaud the amazing service the staff offered. They were all very friendly, helpful and had great attitudes. The breakfast was great and they offer complimentary wine happy hour from 5pm-6pm. The outside patio area is inviting and spacious enough to enjoy a cigarette, cigar, or anything else that is legal without bothering other patrons or pedestrians. They play calming music all day and night and there is always somebody available at the front desk 24/7. The location is great if you are just looking to walk the city to dining/bars/activities in the city, only a 20 minutes walk to the zoo even though it only felt like 10 minutes. It is an hour walk from the main DC tourist attractions like the museums and monuments but have multiple options from uber to scooter rentals to get down in that area in less than 30 minutes. I dont agree with a lot of reviews saying to not go outside after dark, the area is very nice and felt very safe being out walking until as late as 9pm. The rooms are nice and clean but have some small issues like loose plumbing fixture in bathroom, less than ordeal water pressure, not well ventilated and small bathroom. The bed is comfortable and tv/internet works great with netflix available to sign in. Ac worked great during our stay and had no issues which is something ive seen complaints on other reviews. Overall we had an amazing time in DC with all the good food locations we went to near the hotel and look forward to coming back soon. I highly recommend this hotel for a quick stay and mini getaway vacation. I also recommend using their parking service even though the price is a little much but it is worth it. Parking is a problem in the entire area with it being very populated and congested but easy as can be if you park...

Great location but the Hotel and their 3rd-Party partners (Orbitz and Hotel Trader) double-billed me for my stay in early March and now refuse to correct the error. I have called both them and Orbitz on multiple occasions to get this corrected. They tell you one thing, blame the other when talking to them or responding online, and then my reimbrusement continues to get denied. You would think the Hotel would call Orbitz and Hotel Trader and help get this straightened out instead of blaming the customer or their "partners." Do not stay here unless you want to possibly get ROBBED by the Hotel and their "partners" in crime!

Also - the Hotel's response is false. My reservation was fully refundable for a period before my stay was to have started. I met the Hotel's and Orbitz' timeline for a fully-refundable cancellation and even called the Hotel directly to confirm this, as I wanted originally to only modify my reservation. It was the Hotel that told me to cancel and rebook a new reservation for only 2 nights, as it was easier than modifying a pre-paid reservation. And the Hotel told me that they would cancel my original reservation on their end to ensure there was no risk of confusion when I rebooked a new one.

Update - After nearly a full day on the phone with Orbitz, I was reimbursed for 2 of 3 nights. The Hotel and Orbitz apparently tried to get their third "partner" (third party biller) Hotel Trader to approve all 3 nights' reimbursement, but they refused. Orbitz gave me "credit" for a future hotel stay booked through them for the unreimbursed night.

I would like to thank the Hotel and Orbitz for finally stepping up, but it should not take a public vetting of poor Customer Service to get such issues resolved. I stand by my earlier comments - Let the...
