The actual bookstore is closed while they are doing construction around the monument (at least during Spring 2024). There is a small mobile shipping container-like thing in the park/grassy area Southeast of the monument (between Lincoln and the Korean War Memorial). And where you would previously enter to access the elevators leading to the bookstore, there is still a small exhibit with some history and quotes from Lincoln; but just a small room, with the elevators shut down. So you can still buy some souvenirs at the makeshift bookstore and see some limited exhibits, but thereâs no longer the cool looking bookstore with a tower of books like some of the pictures show. Looks like they are building a larger museum to go with the monument. So the bookstore/gift shop will probably be incorporated into the museum...
   Read moreItâs a beautiful tribute honoring Abraham Lincoln. There is so much history here and lots of symbolism if only one spends time to see it. I highly recommend doing a guided tour with a ranger - these are free tours and happen at least once a day. Park rangers can provide in depth information about this memorial and the history of this memorial. From here, you will get picturesque views of the US Capitol and the George Washington monument.
