I am amazed and confused at the negative reviews on the KC Cafe. We went last evening before our show and were delighted. We recognized that even an upscale cafeteria is not likely to be the best place for a steak or salmon dinner, and the prices for one of those complete may be a bit high. But we had the salad, soup, and beverage combination for $22 and could not have been more pleased. The salad was prepared to order, with every salad vegetable imaginable--much more variety than most restaurants--and then additional elements that included grilled chicken, pasta, a rice or grain and a wide range of dressings and final toppings, as many of these as the customer requests. I had the chili for my soup, and though it was a $2 upcharge if purchased separately, that was waived under the combination. I finished my combo with a Gold Peak Iced Tea, but any non-alcoholic beverage available (and the selection is excellent) was included. I honestly don't know where I would find a better pre-show meal for $22! The service was excellent. The two women preparing our salads, the cashier, even the gentleman who offered to take our trays from the table so that we could go on to the show--all of them were as kind, pleasant, and helpful as they could be. And where else can one be treated to a wrap-around view of the entire DC skyline on a beautiful evening? We had dining seats by the windows, but also had time to walk the entire perimeter of the Kennedy Center Terrace before showtime. Simply spectacular. Please discount the negative reviews you may see here. Our pre-show meal at the KC Cafe was everything we hoped...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at the KC Cafe at the Kennedy Center recently, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish.
The first thing that struck me was the breathtaking view of the Potomac River and the iconic DC skyline. The restaurant's location within the Kennedy Center provides a unique and unparalleled backdrop for any meal.
Speaking of the menu, the culinary offerings at KC Cafe are a true delight for the senses. The selection of dishes showcased a fusion of flavors, blending traditional American cuisine with international influences. Each dish was beautifully presented, and the quality of ingredients was evident in every bite.
The dessert selection was equally impressive, with indulgent options like the chocolate fondant and the crème brûlée. They were the perfect sweet conclusion to an already unforgettable meal.
In summary, the KC Cafe at the Kennedy Center is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. The combination of breathtaking views, impeccable service, and exquisite cuisine makes it a must-visit for anyone looking to elevate their dining experience in Washington, D.C. Read moreOverpriced, but reasonably tasty for lunch and dinner, but good breakfast at a good price if you are working on a show at The Kennedy Center. The Cafe is open from 8:00am-11:00am, Monday-Friday for breakfast, but the building isn't open to the public till 10:00am. Anyone who can get into the building for a meeting or rehearsal can get breakfast starting at 8:00am, and the general public can get breakfast at 10:00am when the building opens. There is no breakfast on the weekend. Restaurant Associates, who operates the restaurant, doesn't seem to realize or care that work on shows takes place 7 days a week, so breakfast is only available 5 out of 7 days. You can't even get coffee on the weekends till 11:30, so plan accordingly if you are coming...
