United States Institute of Peace — Local services in Washington

USIP is a vital institution that does incredibly important peacebuilding work. They track conflicts globally, host panels and experts, host events for the public, partner with local Universities, and have an absolutely stunning building shaped like a dove, the international symbol of peace. They were founded as a bipartisan effort in 1984 under Reagan. I hope to see their work further expand. The US Institute of Peace is supported by the US government with the goal of promoting and working toward global peace. Hundreds of dedicated staff members work in a beautiful building near the Lincoln Memorial in Foggy Bottom overlooking the National Mall and northern Virginia.
