I’ve been coming to Massage Escape Spa in Georgetown for the past five years, but unfortunately, my most recent visit was extremely disappointing and unlike anything I’ve experienced here before.
I originally booked a massage for myself, then later called to adjust the appointment to include other family members. The spa confirmed over the phone that they could accommodate us. On the day of our appointment, I called ahead due to traffic to see if a slight adjustment in time was possible, and was told it would be fine. However, upon arrival, I was informed that only one person could be taken and that the services would have to be split into 30-minute increments. This was not acceptable given our schedule and was never communicated in advance.
When I tried to explain the miscommunication, the staff member repeatedly insisted that we needed to be on time and not reschedule—without acknowledging that we had called ahead and had been assured otherwise by her. To make matters worse, she dismissed our explanation by saying, “It’s Sunday, there’s no traffic.” Later, when I mentioned that I simply wanted to pay for my mother’s massage before she finished, she abruptly asked, “So are you paying the tip?” When I explained that it depended on how my mother felt about the service, she followed up with, “So your mom is paying the tip??” The tone and delivery of these comments came across as both disrespectful and dismissive.
What could have been handled with clarity and professionalism instead left us frustrated and disappointed. Had the spa communicated up front that they could not accommodate our request, we would have made other plans. Instead, we ended up wasting an hour and a half that could have been spent with family.
This experience was especially disheartening after being a loyal customer for five years. Clear communication and basic respect for customers should always be the standard, and unfortunately, that was not the case here. I believe all the lady heard was $$$ and told us to come in, what...
Read moreWish I could leave a positive review. Wanted to have a great massage but was anything but great. I called and scheduled a 90 minute massage. I saw this place on groupon and decided to give them a call to make sure they had an available appointment and told them I was going to purchase the Groupon and they told me they would honor the Groupon price and I didn’t have to purchase it thru the website. Which was great. I scheduled an appointment for later that day. An hour later I got a call asking me to come in earlier. I said I could try and make it no guarantees. I got a call every hour asking me where I was. Was very stressful situation because I felt rushed. I told them I would have to make it at my regular scheduled appointment time. When I got there the address was completely different than on the website so it was very hard to find them and the name of the massage place was different than the website as well. I checked in for the massage and the owner tried to convince me to change my massage from 90 minutes to 60 minutes. I told him I called ahead and prefer a 90 minute massage. He insisted that I choose 60 minute and come back another time for a 90 minute massage. During the massage it was very mediocre. I checked deep tissue massage on the paper and it felt like my partner could of done a better job. Just felt like an amateur massage and I didn’t feel more relaxed after it was complete. The pressure to get there earlier and change my appointment length had made me more tense. After the massage. I gave a 20% tip. Which I thought was adequate and the owner told me that it wasn’t enough that I had to give a better tip. He wanted over 40% more tip. Which I felt bullied and ended up giving more money. I need a massage from this experience. I usually don’t leave reviews but I didn’t want anyone to go through what I...
Read moreFirst time going here and I saw they offered a $20 special for full body massage. Figured I’d do that just to see what it was like. Well that “full body” massage was only for my back and the masseuse, who was the same woman at the front desk downstairs, upsold me on the hour for $60 total. I said sure since the massage was ok up to that point. Well then it seemed like she wasn’t actually interested in massaging me continually and kept taking breaks that were longer than she had been massaging. And after being in the room for a while I started to notice that there was a faint mildew smell. I thought it was just because it had been raining earlier that day. But looking around the room you could see the water damage to the paint on the walls and ceilings. So she goes downstairs as I get dressed and I go to pay. And she basically demanded a tip and wasn’t happy with the $15 offered. When I started to put it back in my wallet she kinda snatched it out of my hand and nearly ran to the back room. Yea don’t...
