This is my family's favorite boba shop in DC. The drinks are good and varied and I love that they use fresh milk and fruit. Note: this is part of a chain and there are a number of drinks on the menu that are not served at this location. Their drinks are on the pricier side, even for bubble tea. The atmosphere is nice too.
Brown sugar bubble milk: personal favorite. No caffeine and made with real milk. Dark brown bubbles. I would recommend a small, a large is the same amount of flavor and just more milk. Good hot or cold. Black milk tea with cheese foam: very good. the cheese foam is really tasty (although cheese foam in general is an acquired taste) Super fruit four season oolong: Another personal favorite. sweet, citrusy, refreshing. Bits of fruit and pulp. Very good with boba Orange Yakut: Good. Comforting. No need to get boba with it. It's a good drink to share. Pineapple tea slush: Good. Refreshing. No need for boba.
Mango Slush: good but hard to finish. Floral and slightly chalky texture. Brown sugar bubble milk tea: good but not as good as the brown sugar bubble milk. caffeine. Not very sweet (at least when compared to the bubble milk) Oreo milk tea: fine. Surprising not too sweet. subtle flavor Strawberry slush: fine. good summer drink. no need for boba. Earl grey milk tea: good. the black milk...
Read moreI really tried to like Moge Tea, but regardless of my many attempts at trying different drinks and weighing the quality against the value... it’s just disappointing. The cost is 25-35% higher than any other boba tea shop I have seen in DC or VA, and the quality isn’t impressive. As a tea lover, I really appreciate freshly brewed teas. I found myself to enjoy their peach oolong tea!
Unfortunately, they won’t let their customers just order plain fresh brewed teas! Instead, they charge their customers for a “cheese foam tea” or a “fresh fruit tea”, depending on the base tea used in the recipe. It doesn’t matter what plain tea I order, I end up paying them $9-$11. When I asked them to charge me just for the tea instead of a “cheese foam tea”, they told me they aren’t able to do that.
It’s just poor business practice to take advantage of a customer this way. So, I drive 15 minutes into Arlington or Downtown DC for Gong Cha or KungFu Tea, where customers are charged $3-$6 for any drink they want. And if you want a plain fresh brewed tea, you aren’t charged extra for things you...
Read moreThe four stars are for the cheese foam drinks. Get the cheese foam drinks - that's what Moge Tee is best at. I got the fresh strawberry tea with cheese foam, and it was delicious. However, my fiancé ordered one of the classic fruit teas but with boba instead. The boba is definitely not as good as some other bubble tea joints in the area.
Cheese foam drinks sound nasty AF, but I find them to be tasty. This drink is widely popular in Asia, and it's typically a green or black tea that's topped with a foamy layer of cream cheese and milk and sprinkled with salt. The taste is overall sweet but finishes savory.
Moge Tee has expanded quickly into this area, with locations in D.C. as well as Falls Church. I'm sure we'll expect to see one or two pop up in Maryland as well. Their menu is fairly expansive, particularly in the classic fruit tea category. Everything from strawberry tea, pineapple tea, watermelon tea, to avocado and dragon fruit. I believe they're also quite known for their crème brûlée milk tea too.
Try a cheese foam...
