On June 7, 2023 I communicated to General Manager, Eric that I was no longer interested in Mayweather Boxing and Fitness (on 9th Street) because, I joined another location. On June 9th my card was charged $182 after I communicated to General Manager, Eric that I no longer was interested; he apologized and told me my money would be refunded within 5-7 business days from the date (June 9th). On June 22nd, I reached out to him and told him that I needed a receipt noting that the refund was issued via phone. I finally received my refund on June 28th after contacting General Manager, Eric several times. The refund was never issued until June 22nd. I did not appreciate the back and forth with General Manager, Eric as well as his dishonesty (I asked for corporate’s contact information and I think he provided me the owner’s number. I later found out that Mayweather Boxing and Fitness does not have a corporate office because they’re individually owned). I do not recommend this location.
Updated Google Review: After submitting this review, the Assistant Manager contacted me to offer me a free month and explained to me the reason why my money was not refunded in a timely manner. I declined the free month due to the reasons I highlighted above. But, why did I wake up to this location charging me AGAIN after I communicated several times, I AM NOT INTERESTED! At this point, I think this is retaliation for no longer...
Read moreIn my 5 years of boxing, never have I ever encounter such an unprofessional, disorganized, and straight up unkind institution. The owner is incredibly rude to both staff and clientele and is not interested in hearing about anyone’s experiences: all he cares about is making money. He will tell you this directly before he rudely hangs up the phone on you. There is no structure to the classes—sometimes you work for an hour sometimes only 30 minutes with barely any punching, the trainers show up in jeans and street clothes, and the girl who works at the front desk is always vaping and completely unhelpful when it comes to checking in. The trainers are also constantly trying to get clients to buy private sessions from them, going as far as to poach from one another in real time. The lack of communication between the owner and staff is off-putting enough for me to not return, but I could probably deal with it if I felt like I was getting great workouts at a great price. Since neither of those things are true either, I’ve been forced look elsewhere for boxing in DC and even had to get my bank involved to get some of my money back that this studio incorrectly charged me for (and then rudely refused to refund.) DO NOT COME HERE. Seriously, find anywhere else to box and save yourself the headache of dealing with this truly horrible, terrible “gym.” DO NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO MAYWEATHER BOXING...
Read moreI booked a class, showed up early and waited around for 10 minutes only didn’t realize that the instructor didn’t even show up. I had to go to the front desk to ask them what was happening and I overheard the instructor on the phone making it seem like I was a burden for showing up to a class that I signed up for and paid for. The front desk guy tried to offer me a class credit, but I just walked out of there because why would I wanna get a free class credit from a place where instructors don’t even bother to show up. A pity because I was really excited to get back into boxing and the studio seems really clean, but maybe they should prioritize having people who actually show up to their shifts if they want to...
